General Hospital: Jake's identity crisis.

Jake Spencer ( Hudson West) is a troubled teen on General Hospital where the actor first appeared on April 25, 2016, when he was only 8. Fans have enjoyed watching the character grow up and now he is involved in a meatier storyline. Some fans believe that at the root of his issues is an identity crisis.

Jake's mom Liz Webber ( Rebecca Herbst) wants him to see a therapist because she believes he is the person who has been gaslighting her with reminders of Franco. If this is true the viewers know that the teen has good reasons to be troubled beginning with his last name.

Jake is the result of a one-night stand his mother had with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) who is presumed dead. His legal father is Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) who was married to Liz at the time of Jake's conception but is out of the country. Jake later became close to his stepdad Franco Baldwin ((Roger Howarth) and was traumatized when he was murdered. Elizabeth is now dating Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton)” and her son may be having difficulty with yet another man I’m his life,

Lucky is the bio dad of Jake's younger brother Aiden Spencer ( Enzo De Angelis) but Lucky has not spent quality time with either child. Jake carries the last name of a man who is not his dad and both his real father and the stepdad he loved are dead. Now his mom is involved with another man whom General Hospital spoilers suggest that Jake resents. There is also the fact that Jake became close to Drew Cain (Cameron Matthison) when everyone believed he was Jason.

The Quartermaine and Cassadine

Jason is the son of Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) and his mistress Susan Morgan. After a head injury due to an accident, Jason legally changed his last name to Morgan. Jake is an heir to the Q dynasty and should bear that name. This is not part of the current situation but will surely cause problems down the road.

Something that might be having an effect on Jake is the time he spent being held captive by Helena Cassadine ((Constance Towers) when Jake was hit by Luke Spencer(Anthony Geary) vehicle and was thought to be dead and buried. . Some GH viewers are concerned that Helena programed Jake and this could be affecting his recent behavior. Spoilers have teased that something related to Helena could come out later but no details have been given.

The perils of Jale Spencer

Putting everything into perspective no one should expect anything less than Jake acting out because bio dad was a mob enforcer, and his stepfather once was a serial killer. The man he thought was his father returned from the dead turned out to be his dad's twin (with plastic surgery) and really is his uncle. The man whose name he carries basically abandoned him and his younger sibling and now his mom has introduced a new male presence is into his life.

In addition, Jake was somewhat embarrassed when Aiden was baking cookies, liked pink and his classmates called him "Gayden". This storyline was dropped but the situation had an impact on the older Spencer brother. Jake may also react if he somehow views the video of his eldest sibling Cameron Webber (Will Lipton) having sex with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy.

Prior to General Hospital, Hudson West was in an episode of NCIS Los Angeles in 2009 and he portrayed Paul Blart in Mall Cop 2 in 2014. In that same year he was in two film shorts When the Game Falls Down and Minnow Tank — and the TV series Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. The teen was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 3, 2008.
