Jackee Harry is staying on 'Days of Our Lives'

The iconic actress will be portraying Paulina a lot longer to the delight of her fans.

Actress Jackee Harry recently announced that her character Paulina will be sticking around Salem a little longer. Harry joined the cast of DAYS OF OUR LIVES in March as the aunt of Lani Price, the daughter of Abe Carver. Precious Way was cast as Harry’s on-screen daughter Chanel, who is Lani's cousin. Executive p0rducer Ken Corday said he wanted diversity on the NBC soap, but Days has always been diverse. James Reynolds has been with the show for over 450 years and had a family with his wife Lexie, their son, and his brother.

Lexi's mom Celeste came on board and it turned out that Stefano DiMera was Lexi's father. Renee Jones who portrayed Abe's wife left the show so the character was killed off. Abe had an affair with Tamara Price, (Marilyn MCCoo) years ago a few years back found out about his daughter with Price named Lani when she came to Salem as an adult. McCoo reprised her role for a short time in 2019. Now Lani has an extended family with her aunt and cousin.

Harry said of her character that she was going to be fabulous and bring trouble to Salem and fans are watching closely. Jackee Harry made her television debut in 1983 in the role of Lily Mason on ANOTHER WORLD, playing opposite Morgan Freeman. She remained with the NBC soap until 1986, working simultaneously on "227" which debuted in September 1985 and was also on NBC. Her iconic character Sandra Clark pronounced her name as Sondra and was the resident vixen of the apartment complex.

When "227" ended in 1989 Harry joined Oprah Winfrey in the cast of the series THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE The actress NEXT starred as Lisa Landry in the hit series SISTER SISTER which aired from 1994-1999 first on ABC and later on the WB network. The cast included actor Tim Reid along with twins Tia and Tamera Mowry. Jackee Harry's role gave her the distinction of becoming the first and only African-American to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Jacqueline Yvonne Harry was born August 14, 1956 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and raised in Harlem, New York. She began studying acting at the High School of the Performing Arts in Midtown Manhattan in New York City and later graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Arts in education. The actress worked as an American History teacher at Brooklyn Technical High School for two years prior to beginning a career on the New York stage.

Jackee Harry made her Broadway debut in 1978 in A Broadway Musical. She starred in numerous productions both on and off Broadway and in national touring productions throughout the 1980s. In 1994, the actress returned to the theater when she starred as Billie Holiday in the play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill. Following that stage production, Harry had the role of "madam who runs a bordello" in the Broadway musical The Boys from Syracuse.

Cast of SISTER SISTER

During the mid-2000's she appeared in the stage productions of Damn Yankees, The Sunshine Boys, and A Christmas Carol. She also toured nationally in the JD Lawrence production The Clean Up Woman. Fans of the talented actress are excited that she is going to be continuing her role as Paulina on DAYS OF OUR LIVES and can't wait to see what she will be up to.
