Is Morbius, the Living Vampire in the MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe)?
"What's up Doc?"
It's finally here! The trailer for the Morbius movie! Prior to the trailer, we knew that Sony was creating their own Marvel Cinematic Universe, but solely focusing on Spider-Man villains in the live action films. They were trying to create a Sinister Six Movie.
After the temporary split of the Sony and Disney, the fans were wondering where Tom Holland's Spider-Man was going to be.
We later learned that Kevin Feige will produce one more Spider-Man film in the much needed trilogy with Tom Holland.
Speaking of which, it is said that Holland will be continuing his role as our friendly, neighborhood, Spider-Man in two other movies currently under Sony Pictures.
After seeing a Spider-Man Easter Egg in the trailer, could we be seeing this Spider-Man crossover happening sooner than later?
This is one of many questions I have about the Morbius Movie Trailer.
1- At the beginning of the trailer, we see that it says, "From the Studio who brought you Spider-Man Homecoming, Spider-Man Far From Home, and Venom". This would indicate that the films will obviously be connected in Sony's Marvel Cinematic Universe.
2- As Morbius is passing a bricked wall, we see a glimpse of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man spray painted on that wall. Over the Spider-Man painting, we see the word "murderer". This can mean two things. One, it's either referring to Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man being the murderer in this so called reality. But if so, who did he kill? The only people Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man technically killed was The Green Goblin, Doc Oc, Venom, and the guy who presumably killed his beloved Uncle Ben. If however, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man exists in the Sony Marvel Cinematic Universe, then we can rule out Venom's death, and not count Spider-Man 3 in the continuity.
Number Two, the murder could be referring to Tom Holland's Spider-Man killing Mysterio in Spider-Man Far From Home.
But I ask you, why would it be Tom Holland's Spider-Man, if they specifically used a painting of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man on that brick wall? Is it possible that Morbius is the secret 4th Spider-Man, or a reboot of Spider-Man 3?
3- Close to the end of the trailer, we see Michael Keaton. As we all know, Keaton played The Vulture in Far From Home. My question is, what is he doing in a Spider-Man villain movie strictly under Sony, and not shared with Disney? It can only mean one thing. It could mean that Keaton is Reprising his role as The Vulture, and Sony is setting up The Sinister Six Movie.
4- According to IMDb, it is rumored that J.K. Simmons is reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson in this new Morbius movie. After all, he did play that character in all Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, and Simmons also played said character in Spider-Man Far From Home.
Also Jared Harris is casted in this movie, but we don't know who he plays. Before tye trailer, there were set photos of truck that bore the name Kraven on it. Not saying that Harris could be Kraven, but maybe he's Kraven's brother, who later becomes The Chameleon. It is a stretch, but maybe he is Dr. Curt Connors and he will become The Lizard? Hear me out, in the trailer we see not only close ups of his character, but we never see his right hand in the shots. Connors is missing a right hand.
Maybe the movie is trying to show that the villains are merely looking for a cure to become whole. Morbius with his blood, "Connors" with his lost limb, and The Vulture with his lost youth. Not a lot of people know this, but in the comics and 90s TV shows of Spider-Man, The Vulture would change his youth sporadically. Maybe we'll get to see a de-aged Michael Keaton in this movie?
With all these theories, it would appear that Sony is trying to create not only a Sinister Six Movie, but also a live action version of Spider-Man into the Spiderverse. Meaning that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is like Miles Morales, and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is like Jake Johnson's Spider-Man.
Now the question is, how will we see Tom Holland crossover from Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe to Sony's Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Two ways I can see Holland entering the Sony Marvel Cinematic Universe with Venom and Morbius.
One, Peter Parker somehow falls into a multiverse where things are slightly different from his reality, much like what happened in Sony's Spider-Man into the Spiderverse.
Two, Mysterio never died, and Tom Holland's Spider-Man is stuck in a simulation inside a simulation. Much like the Rick and Morty episode M. Night Shaym-Aliens, or the movies like Inception, and The Matrix.
What do you guys think?
