How My Hero Academia Should Have Ended
From the end of the fight with All for One, onwards.

From both inside and out, Midoriya and Shigaraki’s blows to All for One connect, resonating as wielders of One for All. Light erupts at the sight of the conflict, as All for One’s immense quirk factors begin to degrade, and conjured debris begins to crumble. Blown backwards from the force of the connection, Midoriya sees a light falling in the distance….the One for All embers within Shigaraki’s battered and broken body. Midoriya, with an ember burning within, races to catch Shigaraki, and as he reaches him, they both tumble to the ground with a great impact.
Ears ringing, Shigaraki opens his eyes with immense difficulty. No longer a vessel for All for One and his Quirks, Shigaraki peers over to see Midoriya crawling to him.
Shigaraki: “Enough…I’ve lost. With these hands I fought to destroy, but you were just too strong. The world will simply keep on turning, and all I wanted will be forgotten.”
Midoriya: “No…the world won’t forget. I can never forgive you, Shigaraki, and neither will the world…not after what you’ve done.” Midoriya sits on his knees, clutching his ribs from pain, wheezing out the words.
Shigaraki: “I wanted to show the world I existed, that pain would come for them just like it did for me…for all of us in the League of Villains.”
Midoriya: “I know. We can let the world know together.”
Shigaraki’s skin begins to crack, his body begins to crumble.
Shigaraki: “I won’t be here to do that. All for One’s regeneration is gone. My body is too weak on its own for One for All, and the damage done by All for One was more than I could bear too.”
Midoriya: Tearing up… “No, don’t give up just yet. We can find some way to help….”
Shigaraki: “Save your tears for someone who deserves them. I fought to destroy, I lost. But I got to see what it was like to be seen, even for just a moment…..hold out your hand.”
As Midoriya reaches out, Shigaraki plucks a single hair from his head.
Shigaraki: “The past wielders of One for All have passed on. Their personalities are no longer a part of the quirk. But the quirks they left behind remain. You may not have saved me, but you did see me. Although the First is gone with All for One, an ember of his quirk still remains. This will be the last time One for All can be passed on. When All for One took over my body, my quirk was reshaped into its original form…not just the power to destroy, but the power to restore…a piece that was taken from me. Perhaps I would have turned out different if I had it.”
Midoriya: “But why? You fought to destroy, so why restore One for All to me?”
Shigaraki: “I fought to destroy, yes….but I lost. So One for All is yours. You can use it to fix what I did, to make sure nobody is crushed under their trauma like I was, like we all were.”
Midoriya takes the hair from Shigaraki and swallows it, reminiscing on how the first time this happened was with his most admired hero, and now its with his most hated enemy. As the hair passes down, a flood of light surges through Midoriya. He can feel the quirks returning, but somehow emptier without the consciousness of all the past wielders. As the quirks return one by one, the last quirk to flow is new…the power to destroy and to restore what has been destroyed.
Midoriya: “I feel it…your quirk. Its…warm.”
Shigaraki: “Now you get to have me haunting you until you die. A ghost of your enemy with you.”
Midoriya: “But now that power can be used to help, rather than harm. The way your grandma would’ve wanted.”
Shigaraki: “Tell Spinner, that Tomura Shigaraki fought to destroy until the very end.”
Shigaraki lets out a sigh, and as his breath leaves him, his body crumbles.
Midoriya: still looking at the space where Shigaraki was laying… “I will”.
At the hospital several days later, Bakugo rushes in to see Midoriya.
Bakugo: “What do you mean….about an ember? You mean you’re... you’re…”, Bakugo couldn’t get the word Quirkless out as he stuttered in shock.
Midoriya: “No, not quirkless. I was though. I transferred One for All to Shigaraki during the fight to pry open his mind. And when it was all done with, I was fine with losing One for All. But then Shigaraki and I got to speak before he died. Using the ember of the first’s quirk that remained after he and All for One passed on, Shigaraki transferred it back to me, with his quirk’s original form added to the mix. I can never pass One for All on to another, but I can use it while I have it to be a hero.”
All Might: “Young Bakugo, Young Midoriya…quirks or no quirks, you two are heroes hand over fist. Heroes beyond what any were before.”
Midoriya, Bakugo, and Shoto open their own hero agencies.
Midoriya heroes as well as teaches at UA High School. His unique perspective as someone with multiple quirks, someone analytical who respects all, quirked and quirkless, makes him a star teacher at UA among students, parents, and other staff. At his direction, UA High School opens a new study track for Quirkless Heroes, blending the training of all three study tracks together.
Midoriya currently occupies the Number 2 slot on the hero billboard, with Lemillion occupying Number 1.
Lemillion officially took over the Nighteye agency upon graduation, with the full endorsement of retired Pro Hero - All Might.
The principal of UA decided to focus on restructuring UA High’s academic curriculum as an advisor to the school, and All Might was asked to be his replacement as principal.
Ochaco, as Uravity, participates in quirk counselling more than any other hero task, so no other child feels forgotten or left behind like Toga. She currently sits at Number 7 on the billboard charts. Her hero agency is known for taking on not only hero work, but also assisting with construction when needed.
Midoriya and Ochaco are engaged and set to merge their Hero agencies under a single name.
The other students of UA High have also opened agencies, joined other agencies, and moved on to other endeavors.
