Joyce Guy Facts

Joyce Guy was born on August 18, 1954 and she is an actress and director. She is known for The Santa Clause (1994), Anderson's Cross (2010) and Moneyball (2011). She also portrayed Francine O Donnell on How to get away with murder. Joyce currently portrays Phyllis Caulfied on the ABC Soap General Hospital. Her character has just moved to Port Charles and viewers are wondering what is in store for her in the future.

Phyllis Caulfield comes on the scene

Phyllis first showed up when Nina Reeves (Cynthia Wartros) remembers Phyllis that she was the nurse who took care of her after she came out of her coma while at Crichton-Clark. Nina assumes Phyllis must have helped Nina give birth to the child her mother put up for adoption. Nina enlists the help of Jasper Jax (Ingo Rademacher) and they eventually locate Phyllis who is living in Nixon Falls.

Phyllis was married to Lenny Caulfield (Riff Hutton) and they ran the Tan-O bar together. This is where Nina later runs into Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Barnard) who had amnesia and believed his name was Mike. Lenny dies, The Tan O burns down, Sonny regains his memory and Phyllis ends up in Port Charles. Sonny purchased Charlie's pub from Ava Jerome (Maura West) and now wants his new friend to manage the place.

General Hospital should not stereotype Phyllis

Hopefully, if Phyllis takes Sonny up on his offer she will not turn into the stereotypical black woman who has all the answers. General Hospital has gone this route with Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Edy) who is always teh voice of reason for others. Trina Robinson, (Sydney MaKayla) another African American actress seems to be the one dispensing the wisdom to her friends Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Cameron Weber (Will Lipton), and especially to Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chaves).

Phyllis has been a sounding board for both Sonny and Nina and spoilers say Carly will soon attempt to pick her brain about Mike and Nixon Falls. The writers need to do more with this character than have her tend bar and listen to everyone's troubles. Perhaps Mrs. Caulfield will even find love again. In real-time Guy and Robert Gossett who portrays Marcus are both 67. Once all the mystery surrounding him has been explained if he sticks around he could be a possible love interest.

General Hospital may give Phyllis a love interest

There is also Shwan Butler (Sean Blakemore) who is 54 but what does age matter if two people are in love? It had looked as if Sean and Jordan Ashford might pick up where they left off years ago but Briana Nicole Henry left the ABC soap after 3 1/2 years. Her character is in a medical facility because of a failing kidney and has not been mentioned since she left Port Charles. It has not been revealed if Jordan will be recast and there is also the fact that her divorce papers to Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) were never filed.

General Hospital fans want to move on from Nixon Falls

General Hospital viewers have been saying they were tired of all the scenes in Nixon Falls and many are now voicing on social media that they do not desire to see Charlie's turn into the Tan O. The possibility of Sonny and Nina falling for each other is also rubbing a number of fans the wrong way. Others, however, are eager for the mob boss to move on from Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) This is why Phyllis needs to make her own way in Port Charles and meet other people so that her storyline will not be so one-dimensional.
