Actress Kirsten Storms shared a health update on Instagram so that her followers will know exactly what is going on. The GENERAL HOSPITAL actress said she had brain surgery to remove a cyst that had split in half but that she does not have cancer. Doctors had to open her skull in order to take care of the issue but Storms is coming along pretty well. Last week the soap veteran gave the performance of her life when her character Maxie gave birth in the woods, got away from crazy nurse Chloe, and gave her baby to Brooke Lynn Quartermaine to raise.

Maxie then vented on Peter August when he came to the hospital to see her and tricked him into confessing his crimes as she was taping the conversation. Storms has been in the public eye since childhood and became popular with DISNEY fans after the success of her 3 ZENON movies. She next wowed daytime viewers who watch DAYS OF OUR LIVES as Belle Brady the daughter of John and Marlena.

On GENERAL HOSPITAL her character Maxie has been through a lot, beginning with obtaining the heart of her cousin BJ. Maxie's sister Georgie was strangled to death by the text message killer and the girls father Frisco Jones abandoned them to work for the WSB. Mom Felicia was out of the picture for quite some time but Maxie has bonded with her stepdad Mac Scorpio. She was seduced by artist/serial killer Franco, (then James Franco) and became involved with Lucky Spencer while he was married to Liz Weber.

Her life was so messed up that Spinelli gained full custody of their daughter, Georgie, with Maxie only being allowed to have supervised visits. her husband Nathan West was shot and killed by his father Cesar Faison and Maxie gave birth to their son James in the great outdoors assisted by her husband's half brother Peter August. Maxie later fell in love with Peter who turned out to be a murderer. This is why she is pretending their baby was kidnapped in order to keep the psycho dad away. Co-star Wes Ramsey, (Peter) praised her recent delivery and she did it all while dealing with a cyst in her brain.

In real-time Kirsten Storms has been open about the trials in her personal life. She had to take time off from GENERAL HOSPITAL on 3 different occasions for different reasons. In 2011 Storms was diagnosed with endometriosis and was replaced on GENERAL HOSPITAL by Jen Lilley. She was off-screen for close to a year and the rumor mill suggested she was anorexic or on drugs because she lost weight. Storms returned as Maxie on September 5, 2012, and left the show again for maternity leave on January 2, 2014.

At the time she was married to co-star Brandon Barash who had portrayed Johnny Zacara but the couple later divorced. The actress returned on April 8, 2014, but exited again on May of 2016. She tweeted that her doctor recommended she take time off from work because the stress was causing her skin to break out. Yet again some fans assumed the worst and started unfounded rumors. In a subsequent interview, Kirsten Storms explained how she had been the breadwinner for her family since she was a teenager and felt the pressure of having to work in order to take care of everyone.

She admitted this was a major cause of her stress and hoped her fans would understand. Not long after this, the actress gained some weight and some rude fans were just as cruel with their comments as they were when she lost weight. Thankfully the majority of those who follow Storms have been supportive and it's wonderful that GENERAL HOSPITAL has shown compassion by allowing her the necessary time off. Kirsten Storms is a trooper and has proven time and time again that she has staying power. Those who appreciate her are confident that she will triumph over this setback as well.
