Soap Dirt has just announced news that the soap world has been waiting for. Since March everyone has wanted to know when their favorite daytime dramas will bring forth new episodes. The spoiler says the California Governor has finally approved a date when The Bold and the Beautiful can begin taping new episodes. The green light was given for June 12 which will probably be the same for The Young and the Restless, but the CBS daytime dramas will not actually begin filming on that date. They must first secure a COVID-19 officer, but there is no information as to what this position entails or who would quality. This will, however be necessary for all the soap opera's going forth.

The COVID-19 officer will be on the set making sure that guidelines are being followed. All four remaining daytime drama programs are filmed in California so they will all probably be under the same ruling. Days of Our Lives on NBC tapes about eight months in advance and had enough shows taped to last through August. General Hospital on ABC has to start from scratch just like the CBS soaps. The new normal also includes no longer using paper scripts according to Soap Dirt. This was reported regarding The Young and the Restless but possibly will be in effect for all the shows.

In addition to a COVID-19 officer there will be numerous changes to the way daytime television is handled post pandemic. Soap Dirt announced earlier that The Young and the Restless would use technology to make characters look closer than they really are because social distancing will be enforced. The crew will have to wear masks and the cast must keep sanitizer on them at all times. There will be no hugging, hand shaking or high fives but no details were released on how love scenes will be done from now on. Cast members over age 65 will not be able to be on set right away for safety reasons. This would affect Eric, Pam, and Charlie.

Prior to the shut down The Bold and the Beautiful had some exciting storylines that were taking place. Penny had hit Flo over the head and knocked her out. She and Sally were tying to move the body as Wyatt showed up at the door. Viewers were on the edge of their seats wondering if the truth would come out that Sally Spectra is not dying. Brooke and Ridge were still estranged because she kissed Bill and Quinn was trying to play matchmaker for Shauna and Ridge. Katie was contemplating leaving her husband and fans are waiting to find out what the fate of Thomas Forrester will be.

Thomas disappeared after his marriage to Zoe fell through and Liam and Hope are raising Douglas. Spoilers have been suggesting that perhaps Taylor's son might be redeemed but only time will tell. There was supposed to be a fashion show but if the truth about Sally come out she will lose her job and not get credit for her designs. Some viewers are hoping that when the show returns fan favorites like Donna, Charlie, Pam, and Justin will get more air time. Viewers also are tired of the decades old love triangle with Bill, Brooke, and Ridge, as well as the one between Liam, Steffy, and Hope.

Soap opera's as we knew them BC,(before coronavirus) are going to be changed forever. The steamy love scenes are why so many tune in and without them there will be a void. Make sure you tune in to find out exactly what is going to take place. Keep in mind that it takes about six weeks from the time shows are taped before they appear on screen. I'm certain fans will immediately voice their opinions about how they like or dislike the new normal. Stay tuned for updates, spoilers, and breaking news and continue watching The Bold and the Beautiful weekdays at 1:30 PM EST on CBS.
