Bonnie Burrows sticks up for Gladys Corbin

Bonnie Burroughs portrays Gladys Corbin on General Hospital and right now she is public enemy number one. Based on fan reaction to her having Sasha Gilmore (Sophia Mattson) committed to and locked away in Ferncliff mental health facility it's safe to say she is the most hated character at this time. GH viewers are furious and have been saying for months that Gladys needs to go. Some are hoping Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will find out what she has been up to and deal harshly with her.

Soaps in Depth is reporting that Burroughs is unfazed by the vitriol coming against Gladys and says she gets it that fans are angry with her character. She added that their attacks against Gladys are "fair" but the actor is proving to be as tough as nails as her alter ego and is standing by her no matter what.

Burrows is candid about her character in her interview

The actor was a guest on a recent Soap Opera Digest Podcast. She was unapologetic about the wicked ways of her GH alter ego and made no excuses for her. She said she loved Gladys and that her role on the ABC soap had lasted 4 years when it was only supposed to be for a few episodes.

During the interview, Bonnie spoke about how her father "knocked up" her mother before they were married and she was the result. Her tone and sarcasm throughout the interview let us know that she and Gladys are not too far apart in being bold and crass.

Burrows admitted that Gladys would be around for at least a little while longer on General Hospital which may disappoint viewers who don't think she has a reason to remain in Port Charles. Several spoilers have suggested that there is no coming back from what Gladys has done to her daughter-in-law and some suggested she serve jail time for her actions.

The future is uncertain for Gladys

There has been no news from ABC on the fate of the character and the actor says she has no idea what the future holds for Gladys. “I don’t know what’s going to happen to her, people! I don’t know!” Some actors like Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves) are defensive when fans attack their characters. Watros has gone on record more than once telling fans that she is not Nina and is only performing the script she has been given.

Benard and Laura Wright (Carloy Spencer) have both addressed disgruntled fans but Burroughs is taking all of the negativity in stride. Bonnie Burroughs was born on February 3, 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her past credits include How to Get Away With Murder, Easy A (2010), Hard to Kill (1990) and Prison Break (2005).

Be on the lookout for General Hospital spoilers and updates plus breaking news related to Gladys Corbin and what comes next for her in Port Charles. Will she go down with Dr. Montague or pretend he forced her to play along? Can Sasha ever forgive her mother-in-law and what will Sonny do when he finds out the entire story?

The woman who portrays Gladys Corbin is just as strong-willed and feisty as her character and does not seem to care how hated she is on screen or off. Ms. Corbin has just asked Nina for $50,000 to pay off the evil Dr. Damon Montague ( Darin Toonder). Be on the lookout for updates related to the fate of both Sasha and Gladys. It's not looking good for either of them right now but that could change.
