10 Books that are a MUST read during quarantine according to yours truly. We are all bored out of our minds during quarantine. You can re-binge watch that show you've seen a million times, or you could try something new. Read something new. All of these books are some of my favorites that I would like to share with you. Remember these are in no particular order. I do not want to reveal which one is my top pick. Ha.

1. HAMLET by Shakespeare

I know, you're thinking, "Taylor, you said your favorite books, and this is a play." And you're right but who cares it is one of my favorites, and it is easy to get ahold of. Shakespeare writes masterpieces after masterpieces, but this one takes the cake. Do you want a story with murder, love, humor, regret, sorrow and literally every emotion? Hamlet has it!

2. LITTLE WOMEN by Louisa May Alcott

This classic is sure to put you in your feels. The bond between family is unbreakable with the March's. The characters are way ahead of their time, and you will fall in love. If you've seen the movie, you've probably cried. Well guess what? The book makes you cry harder!

3. FOREVER WORDS by Johnny Cash

Yes, you read that right. The amazing singer/songwriter Johnny Cash was also a writer. This book, Forever Words, is a collection of some of his best poems. By reading it, you feel like he wrote them for you.

4. THE ODYSSEY by Homer translated by Emily Wilson

This epic is filled with everything you could ever want. Greek Gods guiding you, war, sex, blood, family uniting, mythical creatures, adventures and more. While any translation of the epic will do, Emily Wilson's is easy to read, making the story appeal to even more.

5. THE OUTSIDERS by S.E. Hinton

Sure, you may have been forced to read this in school but re-reading to enjoy is so much better. The division between social classes eventually leads to words we will always remember, "stay golden Ponyboy." I highly recommend this book for comfort, it just might make you miss the good days.

6. PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER by Stephen Chbosky

This coming of age story will have you feeling like you never left high school. The way it's written is in the form of letters, so you feel as if Charlie is really speaking to you. The story accurately depicts struggles teenagers go through and how they cope. Once you've read it, go watch it on Netflix. My main man Logan Lerman is it, and does a fabulous job bringing Charlie to life.

7. WHY NOT ME? by Mindy Kaling

Ah Mindy Kaling the hilarious actor/writer that brought Kelly Kapoor to life from, The Office. This is her second book documenting topics we all want to ask a celebrity. It just so happens Mindy is willing to give real answers in a comedic way.

8. 6 YEARS by Harlan Coben

This mystery will keep you on the edge of your seat. The love of his life marries another, but when her husband dies. Jake searches for answers but ends up endangering everyone in his life. Hold on tight because this story is a wild ride.

9. SEDUCING AND KILLING NAZIS by Sophie Poldermans

This true story will make you want you keep reading. The book is exactly what the title entails, three amazing women luring Nazis out to the woods and killing them. If that doesn't make you want to read, what will?

10. EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED by Johnathan Safran Foer

The story follows a young Jewish American travelling to seek out the woman that saved his grandfather's life. Throughout the book, he learns things he never knew about his family. This book will make you cry and laugh, but most importantly it will make you feel something. Isn't that what we all are searching for?

I encourage you all to read and let me know what you think of these amazing stories. Stay safe and sane!
