So, in my previous posts, I've talked about a bunch of MMORPGs. You can find the links to those at the end of this one. Today, I wanna chat about PvP in World of Warcraft and the cool changes they're making to the ranking system. Exciting stuff, right? Let's dive in!

PvP in World of Warcraft

Let's talk about PvP in World of Warcraft! PvP stands for Player versus Player, and it's all about battling it out with other real players in the game. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a noob just starting, PvP can be a wild ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

First things first, you gotta know that WoW offers different types of PvP gameplay. The most classic mode is open-world PvP, where you can fight any enemy player you come across in contested territories.

Picture this: you're questing peacefully, and all of a sudden, a rival faction player pops up outta nowhere to gank you. It's exhilarating and frustrating at the same time, but it adds that spice to the game, you know?

Then, we got battlegrounds, which are like epic team-based battles. You join either the Horde or the Alliance (pick your side and never switch - it's like a sacred oath!), and then you're thrown into these instanced battlegrounds where the goal is to accomplish certain objectives.

Whether it's capturing flags, controlling resources, or just straight-up obliterating the enemy team, these battlegrounds are pure madness, and the chaos can be hella fun!

If you're in it for the glory, there are also arenas. This is where you team up with a fixed group of friends or fellow players and enter a small arena to duke it out against another team in intense 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5 battles. This mode requires mad coordination and teamwork, but the satisfaction of outplaying your opponents is off the charts.

Now, gear is a big deal in WoW PvP. You'll have two types of gear: PvE (Player versus Environment) and PvP gear. PvE gear might have higher item levels, but in PvP, it's all about that sweet PvP gear because it's got bonuses that help you kick butt in battlegrounds and arenas. It's like having a secret sauce that boosts your performance.

And let's not forget about the honor system. When you kill enemy players in PvP, you earn honor points, which you can spend on more PvP gear, mounts, and other goodies. The more you kill, the higher your rank, and the cooler rewards you can snag.

Oh, but beware, there's something called "griefing" in PvP, where players just camp and kill you repeatedly for the sheer thrill of it. It can be a real downer, but that's the nature of the beast.

World of Warcraft is always evolving, and Blizzard keeps adding new PvP content, balancing classes, and shaking things up. It's a never-ending adventure that'll keep you coming back for more.

A revamp to the PvP ranking system?

Hey, check this out! Blizzard is totally shaking things up in World of Warcraft Classic's PvP ranking system. They're making a bunch of changes, like getting rid of those pesky rank points.

You know, Classic PvP has always been a big deal for die-hard fans since the game's OG release way back in 2004. But lately, PvE content has been getting more attention in the modern version of the game.

But hey, don't fret! The Dragonflight version of World of Warcraft Classic still has a strong PvP community, and this update is gonna rock their world! Before, the ranking system kinda locked out a lot of players who couldn't invest tons of time, but now things are about to get way more interesting.

So, here's the scoop straight from Blizzard: they're changing it up with the new system. Say goodbye to Ranking Points; instead, they're putting the spotlight on Contribution Points. These will be calculated weekly, and they'll determine your PvP standing for the season.

The best part? Contribution Points won't decay endlessly if you go inactive. Blizzard's got a baseline number for each rank, and demotions will only happen if you rack up dishonorable kills.

And get this - the new focus is on Honor milestones! You'll need a certain number of honorable kills to rank up. Of course, honorable and dishonorable kills have always mattered, but they wanna make it less of a crazy grind. They're aiming to reduce the hours of "high levels of play" you need to reach higher ranks.

But wait, there's more! They're shifting the emphasis back to Alliance versus Horde, making it all about the faction rivalry, which sounds pretty awesome.

Final Words

Now, these changes might not affect hardcore players who've already conquered the Classic PvP system, but for us more casual fans who love a good honorable kill, this is right up our alley.

And here's a cool bonus: these updates are already being tested on a World of Warcraft public test realm, but we'll have to wait a bit to know when they'll hit the live servers.

Fingers crossed it's soon! Get ready for some epic PvP action!
