Tarkov's RSH-12 is Anything but a Meme!

With Tarkov’s vast array of weapons that are available to the player, it makes sense that some guns are just worse than others. Not every weapon is built for the same purpose, and it only makes sense that while still very lethal, some guns have less going for them. Whether it’s mag size, modularity, or raw output, there are a lot of weapons at your disposal. Sadly, some have been reduced to actual meme guns. The TOZ is a great example of this. While still being totally capable of killing a player, the odds are stacked against the user. The revolvers are another breed of meme guns. When they were released, people just used them to cosplay cowboys for a couple days before people realized how bad they actually were. However, with the release of patch .13, there was another revolver added to the game. And this one is anything but a meme.

The RSH-12 is a pocket ASH-12; firing the same rounds form a 5-round cylinder. To be simply blunt: the thing is a freaking cannon. You stick PS12B in the RSH, and it will sing. And the best part about the gun? It can be fitted with a 30mm scope mount, so you can actually stick long range optics on it and go for some crazy shots. It’s probably the coolest aspect of the weapon that didn’t need to be added to the game, but they did and it’s wicked awesome. You can barter for one at Prapor for a military hose and a bunch of Marlboro cigarettes. They can also be sold on the flea, and they usually range anywhere from 50-70k rubles. Not a bad price, but where the issue lies is within its ammo. There are only three rounds chambered in 12.7x55mm, and realistially, only one ammo that is worth using: PS12B. You can get away with normal PS12, but you will suffer because of its lack of penetration this late into the wipe.

I’ve only used this gun a handful of raids, and let me tell you, it genuinely is one of the most fun weapons to use. For me personally, I like to think of it as a puzzle that needs to be solved. You have this sidearm, a massive hand cannon, and with it, potentially some insanely powerful ammo at your disposal. And it can be fitted with a scope. So how do I use this weapon correctly? And the answer to that is kind of easy: however, you want. It’s kind of a no shit sherlock kind of response, but you don’t have to run a scope on it. It also takes red dots if you don’t want to use iron sights. Even though they are perfectly usable in close range, I can see why people immediately gravitated towards sticking a scope on it and using it for some crazy long-range kills. The only issue is once again, ammo. You can craft PS12B luckily, and they very recently just buffed the craft to increase the return on it as well as shortening the time it takes to craft and lessening the number of resources required. So, if you are interested in giving the RSH a try, I highly recommend it at least once. If you want it to be even more enjoyable, try to round up some buddies and get an RSH in all their hands. It makes for a really good time, permitting Tarkov to cooperate for once.

And that’s pretty much it. There isn’t much more to say about the RSH. It is genuinely a good weapon if you can get a scope and some PS12B’s in your hands. That’s where the real fun begins. I know the hype for it is pretty much dead but as someone who just recently used it, I can see why it was so exciting to people when it was added. The only thing I have not tried yet is using it as a true sidearm when paired with something like a bolt-action. Probably not very effective but damn does that sound like a good time. Either way, if you can get your hands on it, even just a single time, I highly recommend it. Stupid fun for such a simple weapon. But to those who have used the RSH, what are your thoughts on it?
