The Sidewinder Pistol is a weapon in the Starfield game. This sci-fi space revolver stands out with its unique design and functionality, making it perfect for new players who have just joined the game.

Unique appearance design

The design of the Sidewinder pistol may seem strange at first glance, with the cylinder positioned further forward and unlike a conventional revolver. However, the design is based on real-life guns, giving it a steampunk vibe perfect for a starry universe. Although the original shape is a short barrel, it can be modified into a long barrel according to the player's requirements buy Starfield Credits, which is more beneficial to stable shooting.

Weapon performance data

The Sidewinder deals 10 points of damage per shot and holds 12 rounds, twice as many as most traditional revolvers. It has a 20-shot range, which is comparable to other pistols in the game, and has a decent rate of fire and decent accuracy. Its lightweight nature makes it easy to carry, and various custom modules are available.

The Sidewinder is easy to find early in the game, and its ammo is 27 caliber bullets, which are cheap and easy to obtain. It's a handy weapon to remove smaller enemies, ensuring you save more powerful ammo for larger threats. Whether you're looking to build a dedicated pistol or need a handy weapon to take on smaller enemies, the Sidewinder is a great choice.

Solid rate of fire + relatively large ammo capacity + super common drops, so it's likely to be looted for weapons with proc effects, and an early-game pistol will have many effects. If you modify it to have any higher rate of fire or larger magazines, not only will it cost Starfield Credits, but it will suddenly punch above its weight and be a very easy gun to grab a target and explode and wait for the trigger to activate, and a good ammo as you pointed out. Also, it's not a revolver. It's a semi-automatic pistol with a small screw/drum magazine. Don't put all your forgotten weapons on an imaginary gun.

With .27 ammo, the Sidewinder's specs are more geared toward power/stealth, and on my Sidewinder, I like it with white heat and a binary trigger. The beauty looks like it's torn apart! While the range is terrible, and using a suppressor is even worse, it can sneak up on surprisingly high-level enemies at close range with one click.

Custom modifications and customization

Players can modify the Sidewinder Pistol to their personal preference and improve the performance of this weapon. Recommended modifications include:

  • A longer barrel for improved aesthetics and stats.
  • A regular laser sight for a slight bonus.
  • A regular laser sight for better aiming.

Reflex sight. Suppressors add stealth benefits, while armor-piercing or incandescent rounds offer different damage benefits. Large magazines are a viable option for crowd control, while high-powered internals increase damage output. For receivers, choosing between semi-automatic and binary triggers is a personal preference.

The Sidewinder lags in the late game, lacking advanced versions and having relatively low damage output compared to other weapons. It's at a D rank among pistols, indicating that there will be better weapon options as the player progresses.

Unique variations - Zapper

The Zapper is a unique version of the Rattlesnake and is available for purchase in Ella. It is notable for its Tesla effect, which is capable of electrocuting and slowing down enemies. This weapon is a solid choice early in the game, especially for players investing in pistols or elemental effects.

The Sidewinder Pistol in Starfield has a unique design and good early-game potential. While it may not be your first choice later in the game, its accessibility, versatility, and modding options make it a weapon worth trying.
