Rating Tarkov Animations (Assault Rifles)

With the potential for a wipe looming on the horizon, this being reinforced by the man himself on social media, and Tarkov having some slower moments in raid, I figured it would be fun to take a step back from all the shooting and looting, and go over something that we all know to be true: the animations in Tarkov. I’ve made some shorts about them in the past just showing them off, but now I wanted to go over each weapon’s animations and kind of give them a rating. Now, I’ll be brutally honest, there are TOO many guns in the game to go over each and every single one. On top of that, many weapons share the exact same animations. The 5.45 AKs are a perfect example of this; it even translates to some of the other AK options in different calibers. So, the way I figured I'd do this without going insane and having this video an hour long, is to basically use ONE weapon for an entire caliber if the animations across that weapon platform at the same. So, one AK will cover every other AK with the same animations; this will be applicable to other calibers with the same weapon quirks. The animations that I will be taking into consideration are: the inspect, chamber out, chamber in, empty reload, and mag removal. You might ask what about a normal reload, and to that my answer is technically you see the reload through these animations. But it’s just separated into two different parts. It should give us all the necessary movement and handling with the gun for me to give an arbitrary number rating that doesn’t really matter, but should still be fun regardless. Also, I will be most likely doing this by weapon type. We’ll start with assault rifles and work our way around the other types; to make sure we don’t get too bogged down into the trenches of the weapon animations. TX-15: (Similar to: M4, ADAR, HK416)

- Full body inspects

- Emphasis on charging handle

- Older sounds vs new sounds

- Chamber ani, very movement heavy (nice)

- Overall nice animations, 8/10

MCX: (Similar to TX and its 5.56 cousins)

- Share some animations (mag in, chamber out, chamber in)

- Unique animations are snappy, quick, and responsive

- Didn’t show but quick reload is fastest in the game

Overall little similar so, 6/10

AK-74: (Shares ALL 5.45 AK animations PLUS 7.62 AKM animations and more)

- Decent full body inspect

- No button to cycle round, all done with charging handle

- Great chamber out/in animation

- Classic

Overall, 8/10

Mutant: (7.62 Caliber, but unique animations)

- Large focus on the charging handle, no button

- Chamber out and in animations are some of the most stylish

- Uses shoulder for most of chamber in

Overall, very nice, 8/10

SCAR-H: (Shares only with SCAR-L)

- Large weapon, kind of hard to see

- Charging handle used for most ani’s

- Stiff and somewhat simple motions

Overall, nothing too crazy, except the chamber in, 6/10

SA-58

- Heavy gun, ani’s compliment this feeling

- Very strong sound effects

- Appreciate chamber out

- Primarily uses charging handle

Overall, only weapon with them, nice, 7/10

.308 MDR: (Shares exactly with .556 MDR)

- Ambidextrous handle and animations

- Using both hands for all animations

- Personal favorite chamber in (best out of all weapons)

- Involved chamber in, super interesting to watch

Overall, love this weapon and all its ani’s, 9/10

G36

- Fairly new weapon introduced

- Charging handle can go to both sides

- Lots of movement, but feels fairly stiff

Overall, round flings are the best, 7/10

ASH-12:

- Chunky bulp-up

- You can feel the weight with every action

- Even just mag removal is heavy and weighted

- Chamber ani’s are awesome due to bulp-up configuration

Overall, awesome chunky boy, 9/10
