Earth and Fire elemental monsters for the Shadowdark RPG

More of my homebrew monsters, these are elemental monsters of fire, lava, earth, and stone for your Shadowdark RPG campaign.

Boulderling

A small but ferocious burrowing animal with a body of stone. They usually dwell in rocky badlands, mountains, or underground. Violently territorial of their lairs. AC 11, HP 16, ATK 2 claw +4 (1d6), MV near (burrow), S +4, D +0, C +3, I -3, W -3, Ch -4, AL N, LV 3

Rage. 1/day, immune to morale checks, +1d4 damage (3 rounds).

Stone Hide. Half damage from stabbing and cutting weapons.

Camouflage. Hard to see in cave terrain or rocks, looks like a small boulder.

Earth Serpent

A giant elemental snake made of earth and stone. They dwell in rocky badlands, mountains, and underground. AC 12, HP 23, ATK 2 bite +5 (1d12) and 1 constrict (near) or tail swipe +4 (1d6), MV near (climb), S +5, D +2, C +4, I +2, W +2, Ch +2, AL N, LV 8

Constrict. Contested STR to hold a target immobile for one round.

Stone Hide. Half damage from stabbing and cutting weapons.

Tail Swipe. DC 15 STR or pushed a close distance and fall down.

Swallow. On a natural attack roll of 18-20, target is swallowed. Total darkness inside and 2d8 damage per round. The earth serpent regurgitates all swallowed if dealt at least 20 damage in one round to the inside of its gullet.

Camouflage. Hard to see in cave terrain or rocks.

Firebug

A tiny insect that glows like a mote of fire, forming swarms that ignite small fires in forests. AC 15, HP 10, ATK 1 sparks +3 (1d4), MV near (fly), S -3, D +5, C +1, I -3, W -2, Ch -3, AL N, LV 2

Sparks. A swarm of firebugs can build up enough heat to burn a single target for 1d4 damage. Once per day they can light a fire the size of a campfire or burn a single target for 3d4 damage.

Flamewing

A flying creature of living flame that is summoned from the Plane of Fire, the flamewing the size of an eagle and lives to set fires.

AC 12, HP 9, ATK 1 bite +2 (1d6), MV double near (fly), S -1, D +2, C +0, I -3, W +1, Ch -3, AL N, LV 4.

Impervious. Fire immune.

Heat Aura. Creatures within close range of the wolf at start of turn DC 12 CON or 1d8 damage.

Fire Breath. Fills a near-sized cube extending from the flamewing. DC 12 DEX or 2d6 damage.

Lava Brute

A warrior with a body made of lava, these savage fighters live in volcanoes or can be summoned from the Plane of Fire. AC 14 (chainmail), HP 30, ATK 2 flaming greataxe +4 (2d10), MV near, S +4, D +1, C +3, I +1, W +0, Ch +1, AL C, LV 6

Impervious. Fire immune.

Heat Aura. Creatures within close range of the lava brute at start of turn must check versus DC 15 CON or 1d10 damage.

Lava Wolf

Flaming wolf-like monsters from the Elemental Plane of Fire that sometimes live in volcanoes or get summoned from forges or bonfires by wizards.

AC 12, HP 23, ATK 2 bite +4 (1d8) or 1 fire breath, MV double near,

S +3, D +2, C +1, I +0, W +1, Ch +0, AL C, LV 6

Impervious. Fire immune.

Fire Breath. Fills a near-sized cube extending from lava wolf. DC 15 DEX or 3d8 damage. Cannot use again for 1d4 rounds.

Heat Aura. Creatures within close range of the wolf at start of turn DC 15 CON or 2d8 damage.

Magmoid Ooze

A living pool of creeping lava, the magmoid ooze lives in volcanoes and swims in lava flows. AC 12, HP 30, ATK 2 lava tentacle +4 (2d10), MV near (climb), S +3, D +2, C +3, I -4, W -3, Ch -4, AL C, LV 6

Impervious. Fire immune.

Heat Aura. Creatures within close range of the lava brute at start of turn must check versus DC 15 CON or 1d10 damage.

Split. If cut or chopped, split into two smaller oozes (divide remaining HP between both). Can split up to four times.

Rock Beast

Lumbering ape-like elemental beast of earth and stone. Typically live in mountains or deep underground. May be summoned from the Plane of Earth. AC 12, HP 21, ATK 1 fist +2 (1d8) or 1 rock (far) +2 (1d6), MV near (climb or burrow), S +4, D +2, C +3, I -1, W +2, Ch +2, AL N, LV 4

Stone Hide. Half damage from stabbing and cutting weapons.

Rage. 1/day, immune to morale checks, +1d4 damage (3 rounds).

Stone Meld. 2/day, underground only. Turn invisible for 3 rounds.

    Hmm... I maybe should have given the boulderling and rock beast better ACs...
