Missions I do not like in games

Please note this is just my opinion and is in no way comprehensive or should be taken seriously. Also, Destroy All Humans is a great game, although it does have the annoying missions I will mention. You may have other opinions of what are bad or annoying missions and I would love to hear it.

Time-missions. Timed missions are just annoying. Now there is a timed mission in Red Dead Redemption where you have more than enough to take woman to the train station. Then there are games like Just Cause 4 which is nothing but timed missions and you barely have enough time to get anything done. It got to the point where the game was unplayable and I just quit. Destroy all human’s timed missions are mainly protect something until the timer runs out. Most games that do that want to hit you with a lot of enemies but Destroy All Humans is actually tolerable in this regard. Just Cause 2 and 3 were such wonderful games and too bad they ruined it with Just Cause 4. They took everything that made the series fun and made it nothing but timed missions and if you are not a top-notch gamer you will have no chance.

Escort missions. These missions are horrible. Usually you have to escort a character that cannot fight and has barely any health from point A to point B. Yakuza 0 has these to the point they were annoying but not enough to ruin the game. You had to escort a blind woman and any time she got grab she lost health for some reason. Many other escort missions such as the one in the attached video from Destroy all humans is the worst types. You will usually have to escort something when suddenly enemies fire from all directions. There are some escort missions were the person you are escorting fights alongside you and is a capable fighter.

Protect missions. Many times, these missions go along with the escort missions. You have to protect a truck as it travels from point A to point B. Many times, like escort missions they are just plain boring. Most of the time the thing or person you have to protect has no health and cannot fight back. Many times, these characters you have to protect will run into the line of fire or into danger. Sometimes they will not move.

Stealth missions. Don’t get me wrong, I like stealth missions when they make sense but not when they are suddenly thrown into the game and the objective is not to get caught but your character is terrible at stealth. Assassin’s Creed, Metal Gear Solid, Batman, and Ghost of Tsushima do stealth right but many other games do not. You cannot just put enemies to sleep or distract them but you must fail many times to get past them. Many of these stealth missions like to through in a timer or worse an escort that will usually alert others. In the Last of Us you did not have to worry about Ellie or Sam alerting anyone, even if they are seen but many games they just run out to the person.

Pointless Missions. For some reason there are games that just want to pad their run time by adding pointless missions. You may herd cattle or clean something. These missions are just annoying but nowhere near as bad as the previous missions.

Combination of the above. The absolute worst missions are a combination of all the missions I have mentioned or a combination of just a few of them. When stealth, timed and protect are added together, that can make a game almost unplayable. You can be assured your character will run into danger or situations and die quickly. You can be assured that character is not following you so you will have to make serval attempts at these missions.
