Sonic the Hedgehog 4
Sega, during the early to mid nineties, were on fire with their main series Sonic the Hedgehog games. Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3 (and Knuckles) sold very well and all were considered instant classics at the time, and still considered to be classics even now. While Sega were busy creating these main series games and polishing them to be as fine as they could be, there were an awful lot of other Sonic the Hedgehog related games that were released around the same time, to placate the fans and to generate as much lovely money as they could. Come the invention of three dimensions in video games however, Sega found themselves in difficulties. A false start with their home console, the Sega Saturn, led to no new main series Sonic the Hedgehog games being created for it, instead their ideas being carried over and focused on their newer machine, the Dreamcast. This eventually resulted in the first fully 3D platforming Sonic the Hedgehog game, Sonic Adventure.

As someone who started playing video games in the early 90s, back when the two big contenders in the console wars were Nintendo and Sega, I was there to see all the major moments in gaming history that were just around the corner. The launch of the infamous Virtual Boy, the fall of cartridge games and the rise of CD games, and the evolution from 8 bit to 16 bit to "whatever the hell it is now" bit graphics. I was there when the Console Wars kicked into overdrive with the release of the PlayStation, the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64, consoles which would go on to be remembered as the point in which gaming became more than just a silly time-waster. It became a dedicated hobby (And for many people in modern times, an actual honest-to-God job). I've seen all sorts of advancements in the industry, both technical and social. But I have noticed something that, while still present in gaming, has become a vastly faint whisper of what it once was: Game Overs.

There are rumors of a place beyond merely mortal perceptions — a place past the pale pleasures and common agonies of our world, where strange beings will allow your consciousness to transcend the normal, and the accepted, into realms undreamed of. Those who find their way to the gates of this realm, though, find hell more often than they find heaven. And the creatures that oversee this place of torment, the bloody-handed sadists whispered of by those who know, are called many things. Angels, demons, surgeons... and cenobites.

Nintendo probably isn't the company that springs to mind when you think of cutting-edge technologies. If anything, they might be the exact opposite, holding on to old technologies and refining what has been proven to work rather than leading the pack in quickly-outdated technologies trying to chase the newest dollar.

Sega found themselves in an interesting situation after the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, a game that improved over the original and was an incredible exercise in level design and overall game creation. It was a success, and they knew they could equal or even outdo that success with another game in the series. The question they found themselves asking is "where do we go from here?" and they were able to answer that question, eventually.

The year was 2013 and I had just gotten a computer. I intended to use it for "educational" purposes, however I discovered a platform called Steam through some friends. At the time I decided to get Gmod to get past the $5 Steam restriction. It was a fun game and one I still play to this day but in early 2014 I was on the prowl for a cheap substitute for GTA V since it wasn't around on PC yet.
How To Be A Better Jason Player
Friday the 13th: The Game has been around for a while now, and while there are plenty of online articles and guides on how to survive as a counselor or how to win as Jason, (which seems kind of pointless as Jason is so overpowered anyway) there is one type of guide that I've seen precious little of. How to BE Jason Voorhees.

Sonic the Hedgehog was a huge success on it's original release for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991, becoming a real, legitimate rival for Nintendo who dominated the video game market at the time with their mascot, Super Mario. Sonic the Hedgehog changed the game and showed that there was room at the top for two. Sega needed to capitalise on this newfound success, and they did so with the release of the imaginatively titled Sonic the Hedgehog 2, also released for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis a year after the original, in 1992. Since its release it has been ported and rereleased on all sorts of different video gaming platforms, most recently for mobile devices in 2013 in a remastered version.
Dylan CopelandPublished 7 years ago in GamersWhy Are We Drawn to Punishing Difficulty in Games?
Difficulty in games has been on an interesting journey over the past three decades; the early generations of NES and SNES, where extra lives and continues couldn’t come soon enough, turned into more modest offerings in 3D. In the first half of the 2000s, we saw a tough title here and there, such as Ninja Gaiden’s 3D outings, but these were mostly relegated to the hardcore crowd before gaming went mainstream in 2007.

Everyone has fond memories of cartoons as children. Whether they were classics — à la Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny — or more modern, cartoons are an integral part of childhood entertainment. However, cartoons can have a scary side.

Sonic the Hedgehog is by now a globally recognised icon, but even the most bombastic of icons has to have a humble beginning, and Sonic's story begins in the appropriately titled 'Sonic the Hedgehog', often affectionately known as 'Sonic 1', being the place where it all started. Originally released on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991, it has since been ported to a large number of other outlets and devices, most recently in 2013 for mobile devices in a remastered edition. A game over 25 years old is still in demand, still widely played and recognised by gamers and casual players alike.
