How To Get Better at 'League'

Do your part.

So I guess I'm going to write this as a stream a consciousness. I've always had these thoughts regarding how to help other players get better, to carry themselves out of their current ranking. There are a lot of YouTube videos around talking about learning characters, pick easy champs, and other silly stuff. I honestly believe in order for you to get better is to practice healthy habits regarding the game. So I am going to start and tell you what some of those habits are and 'm going to try and break it down a bit.

1. The Team as a Whole

I am going to break this down by in terms of teams participation percent. There is 100%; this will include everyone on your team doing exactly what they need to do during the game. That includes dropping ward, map awareness, informative pings, calling missing champs, etc. If everyone player does this their part the team will perform at 100% capacity. If you break this down by team, everyone counts as 20%.

2. Do Your Part

So now you can't always control what your teammates do but you can control what you do. As I said above, each player can contribute 20% performance to increase your chances of winning. It is your to do whats expected of you contribute. This includes dropping ward, map awareness, informative pings, calling missing champs. By you doing this, you automatically increase your odds of winning. Lets say no one else drops wards, pings, or even builds correctly, 20% chance of winning is better than 0%.

Now I am going to break down your job a little more as a player. This should help clear up any things you can consider as your "job."

1. Wards

Now I'm sure we have all heard or read other players complain how nobody wards. This is the easiest solution to solve. Even if for whatever you reason you don't drop or use your free ward the best and easiest solution to this would be to buy a control ward and just drop in anywhere in your jungle. Drop it near the buff or the entrances to your jungle. Now the second part of this is be aware when it get destroyed. If it does just buy another one and put it in the exact same spot. Do this throughout the whole game. If at least one part of your jungle is lit, it will save your life and even some of your good for nothing teammates' lives.

2. Know Your Champ

Now I know I haven't mentioned this yet but an important thing is to know your champ in and out. It is important to know favorable match-ups and its worst match-ups. There are too many champs for me to go into this further but always look for the edge even in champ select.

3. Watch Some Pro

This is very important for any competitive game. Take some time to watch a pro competition. Watch what they do and try and mimic. They understand that everyone has to do their part to increase their odds of winning. They are all exceptional players and picking up some of their habits will help out in the long run. Even watching them make some sick plays will motivate you to try some new and crazy plays in your own matches.

I hope this was at least a little helpful to you. These are the steps I took to get out of bronze and get gold the last three seasons. I always do my part and it adds to the success of our teams win.
