Handball is a sport that is played with a small, round ball and two teams of seven players each. The game is played on a rectangular court, with a goal on either end. The objective of the game is to throw the ball into the opposing team's goal, and the team that scores the most goals wins the match.

Handball is a fast-paced and physically demanding sport that requires a combination of speed, agility, and strength. Players must be able to jump high and move quickly to throw the ball into the goal, while also being able to defend their own goal and steal the ball from the opposing team.

Handball has its origins in medieval Europe, where it was played in various forms by different cultures. The modern version of the sport, however, was developed in the early 20th century in Denmark, Germany and Sweden. The International Handball Federation (IHF) was founded in 1946, and the first World Championship was held in 1954.

Handball is a sport that is played in many countries around the world, with strong traditions in Europe, particularly in countries such as Spain, France, and Croatia. However, it is also gaining popularity in other regions, such as South America and Asia.

The rules of handball are relatively simple. The game begins with a throw-off, where one team throws the ball from the center of the court to start the match. Players are not allowed to take more than three steps without dribbling the ball, and cannot hold the ball for more than three seconds. If a player commits a violation, the opposing team is awarded a free throw.

Handball is played in two 30-minute halves, with a 15-minute halftime break. If the game is tied at the end of regulation time, there is a two-minute overtime period. If the game is still tied, the match is decided by a shoot-out, where each team takes five shots at the goal.

The sport of handball is governed by the International Handball Federation (IHF), which is responsible for organizing international competitions, such as the World Championship and the Olympics. The IHF also oversees the rules and regulations of the sport, as well as the development and promotion of handball worldwide.

The World Championship is held every two years, and is considered the premier international handball competition. It is contested by national teams from around the world, with the winner being crowned as the world champion. The most successful teams in the history of the tournament are France and Denmark.

The Olympics is another major international handball competition, and it was first included in the program of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Men's and women's teams compete separately and have different champions, the most successful Olympic handball teams are Soviet Union and South Korea for men and Norway and South Korea for women.

At the club level, the most prestigious handball competition is the EHF Champions League, which is organized by the European Handball Federation (EHF). The competition features the best club teams from around Europe, and the winner is considered the best club team in Europe.

Handball is also very popular at the youth level, with many countries having strong programs for developing young players. The IHF also organizes youth tournaments, such as the IHF Men's and Women's Youth World Championships, which are contested by teams from around the world.

In addition to the traditional 7-a-side game, there is also a variation of handball called beach handball, which is played on sand with teams of two or four players. Beach handball is gaining popularity as a fun, less physically demanding alternative to the traditional indoor game.
