Interesting Achievement!

Out of all the Star Wars games, one in particular has the distinction of having taken 98% of the revenue for the last five Star Wars mobile games overall: Galaxy of Heroes.

Galaxy of Heroes, from Electronic Arts, is a game where the player can collect all the different Star Wars characters from across the Star Wars universe, including characters from the TV shows, movies, other video games, etc. When Star Wars comes out with a new show or movie, they update the characters that the player can collect in the game, which makes it fun. The player can battle the different characters and level them up to make them stronger. Each character has their own stats, fighting style, and equipment, too. And even though Galaxy of Heroes is a free game, it has obtained a fair amount of revenue in the Star Wars mobile gaming world.

According to data obtained by Pocket Gamer (via Sensor Tower), Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has generated 1.2 billion in lifetime revenue. Star Wars: Puzzle Droids, Star Wars: Force Arena, Star Wars: Uprising, and Stars Wars Rebels: Recon Missions have all obtained $23,747,000 from total joint player spending.

The top country for revenue for Galaxy of Heroes was the United States at $732.5 million, or 62% of all player spending. Germany has the second most revenue for the game, and the UK is in the third with revenue.

Since Galaxy of Heroes’ launch in November 2015, it has continuously grown in success and fame in the mobile gaming world, which has led to the top number in revenue. The next highest was Netmarble’s Force Arena at $13.8 million. Force Arena launched in January 2017. Kabam’s Uprising was the third in revenue with $7.4 million. Puzzle Droids from Genera Games is in fourth place at $1.9 million in player revenue. Zynga’s Rebels: Recon Missions is in last place, with players only collectively spending $647,000 in revenue.

During this same period, Disney and Lenovo launched Star Wars: Jedi Challenges. Jedi Challenges is an augmented reality game for smartphones where players can take part in lightsaber duels. However, while this game has 1.5 million downloads, it has not earned any money so far with in-game spending. Jedi Challenges doesn’t have the same in-game purchases as the other games, but does require the Lenovo Mirage AR headset, lightsaber controller, and tracking beacon. It was originally sold for $200 as a starter pack in November 2018 with the release of the game. Now, however, you can install the app without purchasing the starter kit.

Just like with Galaxy of Heroes, the United States is the top downloader of Jedi Challenges with the UK and Germany switching spots to second and third respectively.

Across all the games mentioned above, they have an estimated 109.3 million downloads to date.

Galaxy of Heroes, of course, leads with 78.5 million downloads, which is about 78% of total downloads. The US has the most downloads, of course, with 19.2 million downloads, or 24.5% of that 78 percentage. Russia is the second most with downloads, and then Brazil is in the third place.

Force Arena has the second most downloads at 12.7 million. Third was Uprising and the fourth was Rebels: Recon Missions at 10 million and 4.9 million respectively. Puzzle Droids rounded the group out at 1.7 million downloads.

The other games aren’t really active as mobile games at this point. Jedi Challenges still is, and of course, so is Galaxy of Heroes. One of the things that makes Galaxy of Heroes so fun, and probably why it has grown in popularity, is the fact that there are many facets to the game, from collecting characters, to battling, to challenges, character collecting, ships, and items. It is also really easy and fun. It is addicting, but isn’t something that a player plays for hours since the energy does need to replenish. And even though it is a free game and most of the gameplay can be done without spending any money, there are still some very nice perks if the player does wish to spend revenue while playing to help advance their level.
