Nearly the entire world jumped on the Pokémon GO hype train, myself included, and after many issues, many loyal Pokémon fans merely keep the game installed in the hopes that the followup generations are released in the near future.

So we wait, and if you're as impatient as I am then you've probably been surfing Google Play or the App Store for the next addictive game. Well, look no further because a new Pokémon game has finally been released: Pokémon Duel. And I'm sure you have a few questions, so let's get those answered - then you can go ahead and download the game for yourself, so here goes.

Another Pokémon game you say?

Yeah, I know I was leery at first too, trust me, after the burning sensation subsided from my own fear of getting sucked into a new Pokémon game, I've got to admit that I was pleasantly thrilled with this game.

Pokémon Duel is a free download, although it does offer in-app purchases it boasts that you can complete the game without spending a penny. Instead of following in the tropes of the original game (which many fans still want), Pokémon Duel is a fairly unique strategy game that bears no real resemblance to Pokémon GO or even Pokémon Shuffle. The only real similarity is that you collect the beloved Pokémon.

So, what do you do exactly?

In Pokémon Duel, the goal is to get your Pokémon onto the opponents side of the board in a turn-based race. During your turn you place your Pokémon on the board and try to advance them while also halting your rival from reaching your side of the board. While you're moving your Pokémon across the board you can face off against your opponents Pokémon when they meet in adjacent squares, then based on a spinner an attack is chosen and they face off.

Knocking out your opponent's Pokémon can open a new lane to their side of the board, but if your attack fails you could leave yourself defenseless.

This is where the strategy part comes into play.Yet it's not simply about just the battles, you're also able to fortify your team of 6 Pokémon by collecting new Pokémon from multiple generations and level them up, evolve them and even boost their attacks.

Check out the trailer below to get a better feel for how truly unique Pokémon Duel is compared to the other Pokémon games on the mobile market.
