Actions Do Have Consequences (Part 2)

Somehow we fixed everything?

We're going to jump right into this one. If you don't understand what's going on, you should go read part 1. Then things will get much clearer.

After returning to Asfalis, Faulk, Voric, Korrin, Dagless, and Nerithyra had to decide what they were going to do. There was an earth elemental rampaging in the South. But you know what we did? It sure wasn't dealing with that. We spent several sessions doing random quests until we decided, yeah we better go take care of that.

The first step to doing that was to find Ironfang. We put together that after Faulk sold Ironfang, Velegaard Armaments summoned this elemental. We had two other weapons with us, Windvane, in the monastery, and Tinderstrike with Voric. We asked them if they knew how to banish their elementals. We learned from them that the elemental was, in fact, the Earth Prince Ogremoch. The only way to banish him was with Ironfang himself. So now we have to figure out where Ironfang is. At this point we decide to take Windvane with us again, with me taking her.

Well we get Lefty, resident crazy wizard, to get us a locate object scroll. We figure the South for sure, but where we weren't really sure. We do some investigating and eventually head to the town of Keratose. Keratose is where the head engineer for Velagaard is. Her name is Piston, we first met her during the heist with Dagless, Faulk, and Nerithyra. None of us like her.

We get to Keratose and there's some portal glowing above the whole city. We hear some sort of announcement that the city is being moved. So we quickly sneak over the giant city walls, and find a factory. Figuring this is a good start. we try to find some way in and don't see anything. So we go down the mineshaft that was connected to the factory. Entering the mine there's a small outhouse, a single hallway and piles of dead goblins along the wall. We don't go down the hallway, but I decide to look at the outhouse for whatever reason. There's a lit torch in the chamberpot. I use magehand to pick it up, and it hits a magic barrier. We feel a rumbling and I quickly back away.

A purple worm shoots up through the ground and the outhouse is gone. Now there's a giant hole in the ground. Figuring this probably isn't where Piston is, we go back up to the factory. There are workers going in, being checked by none other than the sentient suits of armor we met earlier. We figure if we can get a card, we can get in.

I get a card and we make a plan to get everyone in. Voric, in his full plate, would pose as another suit of armor and the rest of us would try and find Piston or Ironfang. We sneak around the factory avoiding patrols and eventually find the room that the suits of armor are coming out of.

We manage to get in and see two people in the room. They seemed to be using some magic to imbue these suits with power. Faulk and I ambush them and manage to get them down. When they didn't give us answers, I charmed one and Faulk knocked the other out. We end up back in the mines with our charmed guide at this point. We're seeming no closer to finding either of our targets at this point. Deciding this "guide" is useless, I ask him if he thinks he can take on a purple worm. He says yes and jumps down the worm hole. After a long silence we decide its time to go down the hallway.

We test it, by this I mean Faulk threw a goblin body down the hallway. It gets fried. Knowing I can get over fine, I watch as the others try to figure out how they'll get across. They eventually just throw a bunch of rocks and goblin bodies over the ground and hope for the best. That's how they proceed, while I climb on the ceiling as is my usual now.

I'm not going to go through this whole part of our adventure now, as it is a very detailed part. It also brings up one of our longest running jokes within the campaign. More on all this in a later story.

After we explore all the mine we get back up to the surface through the wormhole and now we can see Piston flying up by the magic circle. On our flying carpet we get as close as we dare without her noticing. We can hear her arguing with none other than Ironfang, hanging at her side. It's important to note that Piston is a gnome with a backpack of metal tentacle arms. She's basically Doctor Octopus, but with more arms, I believe there were 6.

We discuss our plan and decide that I will shrink Ironfang, Dagless will grab him with magehand and we will get out right before Keratose teleports. Our plan goes almost perfectly, but Piston manages to get outside the teleport range just as Keratose disappears.

Now we have a very angry gnome chasing us, shooting rays at us with her tentacle arms. Our carpet gets burned and we're trying to run from her now. Korrin gets away as fast as she can, Dagless on his magic broom and I'm trying to keep Voric from dying from the fall with Windvane's power.

Faulk still thinks we can take her and the party gets split on whether we fight or run. Piston stops Dagless in his tracks when she uses an anti magic field and manages to snatch the broom from him. As soon as Piston lets the magic field up Dagless grabs Faulk and Dimension Doors away. She grabs Voric and Nerithyra. The party is well and truly split at this point. Piston holding Voric and Nerithyra captive.

They still managed to get Ironfang away, however. Now they had to get the other two back. Our DM decided to have Voric's player and I play as NPC characters during the rescue mission. I choose Kildrak, a shapeshifter that had some sketchy history with the party. Voric's player chose Indie, A werewolf fighter. In preparation for the rescue, Kildrak went out to gather some information and found out where the two were at.

In between sessions, Korrin's player decided to switch characters. We would meet her new character along the way. Voric's player also decided to switch characters, after the rescue mission.

So we headed of to rescue our party members, who we found out where kept at Kafka and Sideon's Debt Collection Agency. I decided to travel as a horse. Along the way we meet a Wood Elf name Andraste, she decides to come with us. I had been sick the whole week and had slammed some medicine before this session and there are some interesting things that came out of that. During our meeting with Andraste my only input was "I am a horse" which became 100% canon. I was just a talking horse now.

We make it to Kafka and Sideon's and try to figure out how to get in. I go scouting as a fly through the vents, but can't spot them anywhere. Dagless manages to get us past the front desk with a little bribery and we head up to the next room. This is where two necromancers were. The older was eating zombie hands and the other was, well, doing the opposite of that.

Faulk immediately suggests we kill them. I investigate, still a fly, some way to get past them. With Faulk around it devolves into a fight very quickly. The apprentice we take out quite easily. We push the Necromancer into the zombie pit and he pulls himself back out rather quickly. The Necromancer bites Faulk's hand off and I, now a horse, try to kick him away. My hooves go straight through his chest and now there's just a giant hole. This gives me an idea. Nothing else we did seemed to have much of an effect on him.

When it came time for me again, I ask our DM if he knows the Antman solution to Thanos. He says yes. I tell him I want to do that. He gives me a confused look, so I explain slowly what I am doing.

"First. I'm going to turn back into a fly and fly into that hole in his chest. Then I'm going to turn into a horse. In his chest." He looks at me and blinks slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Yeah, you explode this guy as you turn back into a horse."

"I am a horse." I grin as everyone starts laughing at how well my stupid plan worked.

After this Faulk decides it would be a great idea to stick a zombie hand on his stump. It attaches itself to him instantly. None of us like that.

We continue on and eventually find our friends at the mercy of Reeve, the debt collector. Dagless says we should kill him. Coming from him, it's a surprise. But we do just that. We manage to kill him after Faulk shoves his zombie hand in his mouth to stop him from casting spells. Dagless was very pleased at his demise.

We take Nerithyra and Voric home along with one other prisoner. He gave us some information on a lost heirloom of Nerithyra's family. He creeped everyone out and Andraste beheaded him when we made camp on the way back.

With the party back together once again, we decided we needed to figure out this Ogremoch thing. This was the beginning of the session we would meet the other new character.

Faulk's zombie hand was beginning to spread up his arm. He didn't like that so he had the self-proclaimed town mayor, Paladium, chop his arm off. Paladium is paladin of Dumethoin and hates the undead so he was more than happy to assist. When we realize we never did anything with the arm, we go to get it and the arm is gone. It was nowhere to be found in town. We didn't think it would be a problem, so we start deciding what to do next.

I say we should make Ironfang tell us how to get rid of Ogremoch, and we try that. Ironfang refuses unless Faulk attunes to him again. Faulk refuses to do that. I wasn't taking it from either of them, so I attuned to Ironfang. I was taken over by him and Faulk tried to knock me out. This is when we met Hamfinger Fatfist.

He thought I was his friend, and started to fight Faulk for trying to hurt me. After it was all settled, we started to head back towards the South. We feel like something is following us the whole time.

We get about halfway there when we camp for the night. Dagless has Leomund's Tiny Hut, so we of course use that. When Faulk wakes up, he notices Ironfang is gone. He suspects me, of course. I say I didn't do it. No one else knows anything either. We start to look and can't find him anywhere.

Remembering we still have the Locate Object scrolls, we use that and start heading towards Ironfang. After awhile of traveling I unattune from Ironfang and admit that, yes, it was me who got rid of him. I gave Ironfang to Faulk's arm. That's what was following us.

When we eventually catch up with Ironfang and enter a large meadow. We don't see the arm. What we see is a mirror image of Faulk, riding a large metal bull. We referred to him as "Left Faulk".

As we fight Left Faulk the earth starts to shake and we can see Ogremoch starting to appear in the distance. We do all we can to get Ironfang back before we all get crushed. I manage to snatch Ironfang just as Ogremoch appears, trees snapping under his massive feet. Nerithyra looks at Dagless as everyone else is trying to figure out what to do.

"Think you can get me up there?" She asks. Dagless smirks and grabs her arm.

"You know I can," He Dimension Doors them both up to Ogremoch's chest. Nerithyra knows she has to just hit the Eye of Tharizdun on his chest to banish him.

It was at this point that our DM decided no mini was big enough. He stood on the table and said "I am Ogremoch, give me your minis". We hand him little Nerithyra and Dagless and continue on. Completely normal.

As Nerithyra goes for the hit, Ogremoch covers the Eye and tries to throw them off. Nerithyra tells Dagless to get himself to safety. He gets himself back to the ground. Nerithyra forces Ironfang attune to her once again and uses his Meld Into Stone to get through Ogremochs hand. She manages to sink Ironfang into his chest, right in the center of the Eye.

The Earth starts to break open as Ogremoch falls into the Plane of Earth. All of us with him. We know we can't get back up before it closes again. As we all gather once again I remember a little trinket we got in the Web. An Amulet of the Planes. When I state this, we could just see the realization in our DM's eyes.

I fail my intelligence check and roll the Twin Paradises. Realm of Meliekkie. Faulk's mother. At least it wasn't Carceri, right? None of us were dead, we banished Ogremoch. All was good. We decide we can just try again, but before we do so Meliekkie herself appears before Faulk.

They get into an argument and she tells Faulk that he's expendable as her champion. She can always have more children to serve her. This does not make Faulk happy. He quite explicitly tells her he wants her dead. Even so, somehow we managed to be sent back to the Material Plane in one piece.

That's how we managed to both cause a catastrophe and fix it. We still blame Faulk 100% for all of these events. We tried to tell him not to sell the sentient apocalyptic weapon...
