International Literacy Day provides a crucial platform to highlight the global demand for literacy education. It underscores the significance of equipping individuals with the essential knowledge and abilities through literacy, enabling them to enhance their quality of life.

we as the bread of asian had to enocunter such scenrio as normal rate . where the education is not the leverage for every one and especially girls who have been the victim of this practice since birth a country whre women even have to fight for their right to have an education . on this pretigous day when we rmeind ourself that education and improve our livelohoodis our basic right as a human as per the pak survey

The current literacy rate of Pakistan is 62.3 which mean that an estimated population of 60 million is illiterate in the country and the averageof women education is even worst case and above mention satats accordance i woul like to shaare the even that i had to enocuter which is very painful

Girl with crippled wings

I happened to know a girl who possessed a brilliant mind and lived in the interior of Sindh, a conservative society where allowing girls to pursue an education is considered a rare privilege, subject to certain restrictions. She was made to believe that granting her permission to receive an education was more of a favor than her inherent right. Undeterred by these societal constraints, she nurtured a dream of becoming a savior, someone capable of positively impacting the lives of millions, unaware that her dream might never come true due to her unfortunate place of birth.

She encountered the harsh realities of life when a boy from her class developed feelings for her. She repeatedly informed him that her parents would never consent to such a relationship, but he persisted, leading her into a perilous situation where her parents discovered the truth. In response, they subjected her to physical punishment, abruptly terminated her dreams, and married her off to a stranger, effectively clipping her wings. Here was a mind capable of weaving countless dreams and achieving wonders, now at the mercy of fate. Tragically, our culture does not dispense equal justice; if a girl errs, she faces instant punishment, while a boy's actions are often overlooked or excused.

The purpose of sharing this story is to underscore the fundamental right to education for every human being and to emphasize that a mistake should not condemn us to a lifetime of brutal punishment. This is not the story of just one girl; there are hundreds of girls who become victims of our so-called honor and traditional customs, like the 'pagri gir jana' ritual.

Conclusion

On this day, I fervently hope for genuine equality and advocate for the inalienable right to education for every individual on this planet, transcending the constraints of gender. While we have achieved significant milestones in various aspects of our society, it remains disheartening that our collective consciousness is still marred by the insidious paradox that continues to cast women into the shadows.

The truth is, regardless of gender, we all yearn for education and recognition, and it's high time we collectively work towards creating a world that upholds these principles. We must strive for awareness and change, pushing boundaries to dismantle the archaic norms and attitudes that have long restricted the opportunities available to women. Education is the cornerstone of progress, and it is a universal right that should be accessible to all, irrespective of gender. As we commemorate this day, let us recommit ourselves to breaking down the barriers that hinder this fundamental human right, paving the way for a brighter and more equitable future for all.
