1. Juanita the frozen virgin

At the Monasterio de Santa Catalina catacombs in the city of Arequipa, Peru, visitors can admire the mysterious frozen mummies at the Museo Santury museum. This museum has an extremely strange mummy. It is the mummy of the virgin Juanita.

Juanita was identified as a girl aged 12-14, who died about 500 years ago. Juanita's mummy lies on top of Mount Ampato, along with the skeletons of a boy, a girl and another woman. It is believed that they were killed as sacrifices to the mountain gods. Juanita's body was preserved in ice, so scientists call this "living evidence" of the Incas. This mysterious mummy was found on September 8, 1995.

2. Capuchin Tomb

Before the 18th century, at the Capuchin monastery in Palermo, Italy, the monks here performed a special funeral ritual: embalming the bodies of their friends. The bodies were decorated and embalmed in the underground tomb, then hung on the wall. The special thing is that these mummies all have expensive costumes. When this form of funeral became popular, commoners also had their bodies placed in the monastery's crypt.

4. Egyptian Emperor Tutankhamun

5. Tollund Man

If you witness this strange corpse, you will probably forget about Botox and anti-aging creams. This man's body was simply buried in a pile of peat and it did not decompose, the face and body were still quite intact.

Archaeologists have discovered the origin of this mysterious natural mummy. This is the body of a man who lived around the 4th century BC, during the pre-Iron Age of Rome. In 1950, in a swamp on the Jutland Peninsula, Denmark, this mummy was discovered. Archaeologists also found marks on the front of the man's neck, suggesting this man may have been hanged. Currently, the Silkebord museum is preserving this mummy.

6. Mummy in Guanajuato state, Mexico

The mummies in Guanajuato, Mexico are considered some of the strangest and most gruesome in the world. These mummies were buried en masse due to a cholera outbreak in 1833, at least some of them were buried alive.

One of the typical mummies that was buried alive is a girl named Ignacia Aguilar. This girl suffered from a strange disease, her heart beat and stopped many times a day. Her relatives did not know so they buried her.

When her body was exhumed, it was noticed that her face was bent down biting her arm and there was a lot of blood in her mouth.

There is also a mummy here that is said to be "the world's smallest mummy", no bigger than a loaf of bread. It is said to be the fetus in the body of an unfortunate woman who died in a cholera epidemic.

7. Mummies in Greenland

In 1972, eight well-preserved mummies were found in an abandoned Inuit settlement called Qilakitsoq, in Greenland.

The Greenland mummies include a six-month-old child, a four-year-old child and six women of different ages. They died about 500 years ago. These corpses were naturally mummified by the heat and dry wind in the cave.

8. Ginger Mummy, Egypt

"Ginger" is the nickname given to the body of an adult male, naturally preserved and still retaining almost intact yellow hair, fingernails and toenails despite his death. more than 5,000 years ago.

This mummy was found in Gebelein, Egypt in the late 19th century. It is considered the oldest Egyptian mummy ever discovered.
