What was feared still happened.

3-meter long spaceship debris fell from the sky, there was a huge explosion

Space debris

Will the spaceships and satellites flying in space suddenly fall one day? If these spaceships and satellites fall, will they hit us? I believe this is something that many friends have worried about. If it is in an ideal state, spacecraft flying in space should not fall, because their speed generally reaches or exceeds the Earth's first cosmic speed, which can theoretically offset the Earth's gravitational force and will keep flying without falling. But the actual situation is not like this, these spacecraft flight speed, but because there is still thin air in space, which means that the spacecraft will be affected by air resistance and other factors, their flight speed will become lower and lower, and finally, the flight path will fall and eventually will fall into the Earth's atmosphere.

3-meter-long spacecraft debris fell from the sky

On a farm in Australia, farmers found a piece of an object up to 3 meters high. Australian farmer Mick Seiners said he heard a huge explosion at the time and then found the big piece on one of his farms. In addition to this farmer heard a huge explosion, many people nearby also said they heard a loud noise. What's going on? A big guy up to 3 meters tall fell from the sky, what is it?

Brad Tucker, a space expert from the Australian National University, investigated the piece of object and confirmed that the big guy is part of the Space spacecraft capsule. This piece of hit debris has been floating in space since November 2020, and as it flew down in altitude, it eventually re-entered the Earth's atmosphere. Previously we have also seen many spaceship debris, rocket wreckage, and satellite wreckage re-enter the Earth's atmosphere, but most of the debris will be directly in the atmosphere violently burned to ashes, the only remaining debris fragments will also basically fall into the sea, very few spaceships, rockets, satellite wreckage fall to land. However, there are exceptions, this fell to the Australian farm of this piece of space debris is one example. Space expert Brad Tucker said the piece of space debris that fell to the ground looked like a burnt tree.

Satellite wreckage.

3 metal balls descend on India

In May of this year, a similar object had fallen from the sky in India. Things are roughly like this, in India 3 metal balls are falling from the sky, and these 3 metal balls have landed in 3 different villages. Although these metal balls landed in different locations the distance between the three villages is very close, no more than 15 kilometres.

According to witnesses, they suddenly heard a loud noise in the sky, at first they thought an earthquake, which scared them to run out of the house. Only later did they learn that three metal balls had fallen from the sky. Then the local authorities called experts to study, these metal balls may be satellite debris.

Space debris will not hit people?

With the development of society, there will be more spacecraft launched into near-Earth orbit in the future, which means that there will be more space junk in space future. Now there is already some space junk falling, so will there be more space junk falling in the future? If these space junk fall will not hit people?

Scientists have long considered these issues, so many spacecraft are now able to control re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. For example, the previous Lanzhou II cargo spacecraft and Lanzhou III cargo spacecraft were all burned by controlled re-entry into the atmosphere. Under controlled re-entry, we can control these spacecraft to re-enter the atmosphere at the right time and place, so that even if some spacecraft wreckage may not be completely burned up in the atmosphere, it will be controlled to fall into the sea instead of crashing into the human dense area.

Of course, there is some spacecraft wreckage that can not be controlled, because, in the past few decades, we have launched a lot of satellites, many old satellites do not take into account these problems, so there are some satellite wreckage in space for decades before re-entering the atmosphere and burn up. These "runaway" spacecraft may indeed re-enter the atmosphere at some point on their own because it is "runaway", so we have no control over where and when they fall, there may indeed be some satellite wreckage falling to land. But a large part of the land is no man's land, such as desert areas, and Gobi areas.

Comprehensive, satellite wreckage into the sea or desert areas, the probability of desert areas is relatively large, and the possibility of falling into densely populated areas is relatively small. Over the years, we have not seen anyone hit by spacecraft wreckage.
