What are the chances of anything coming from Mars!

And yet they came

It was nearly one hundred and twenty years ago when Martians had launched an audacious attempt to take over and make earth their own home, spreading that red alien weed everywhere. That was until what seemed so simple to us humans was not so for our Martian invaders, they seemed to catch a common cold a virus of sorts from one of our very own earth germs, for once mother earth was fighting back.

Today a Martian child sits in a solitary cubicle that suffices for a classroom; on one of the many monitors at the pupil’s disposal is a live feed from that large blue-planet that is nearly two hundred and twenty-five million kilometres away from the smaller red planet of mars that is so devoid of the earth like beauty.

The alien student was learning about this distant earth and of its natural beauty and it could not help but wonder how life is like on planet earth, suddenly a small flash from earth surface caught the alien child’s attention, was that an explosion?

"Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this mars with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us?"

The Martian children had learnt of the horrendously slow and painful death of their brave ancestors that went on the galactic invasion that failed more than a century ago. You see the Martian way of life was not too dissimilar to that of life on earth, they worked for a living and enjoyed the social life, but the red planet was missing something, it was covered in a red seaweed type of grass, making almost everything that deep red colour, even the water. The longing for a life more natural similar to that on earth still drove the Martians, even after that ill-fated invasion, they still watched, learnt and still they... waited!

Unknown to the Martians that the flash was an explosion, it was an exploration vessel that the humans had built from the remains of that Martian invasion, they also managed to decipher codes and messages from the alien machines. The humans had learnt of the desert-like red planet and how the Martians had longed for a planet like earth to live on, so they planned not an attack but the expedition to aid them, sending a spaceship across the darkness of space in an attempt to change mars into earth’s sister planet, like a genesis effect.

The aptly-named space vessel Well’s Thunder Child hurtled towards its distant goal, with its crew onboard and tanks loaded full of the genesis juice which was made up of some earth germs. Like the ones, the Martians had encountered someone hundred years previously, but this time instead of causing pain and havoc with the Martians, the germ-filled juice would attack the red weed and red water and turn it into green lush grass and cool freshwater that would enable the re-growth of the ecosystem and the rebirth of mars.

"The Chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, they said!"

Six months later and a month since the peaceful landing party first set up base on the red rock. With most of the planet now changing, becoming greener by the minute, there was something odd, strangely they were alone with no signs of any Martian life or anything that would resemble a life that could have started that ill-fated invasion many years ago.

Unaware that they were being monitored from the two moons of Mars. Phobos and Deimos are where the aliens lived and this is where they launched their invasions to earth. Therefore, they waited for the right time whilst learning what they can from their now alien invaders, watching the humans through envious eyes, whilst that desolate planet of theirs was changed for the better, better for the humans and better for the Martians.

"No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized as someone with a microscope studies creature’s that swarm and multiply in a drop of water?"
