There's only so much that Ai can do
You can code human interaction, but not human intimacy.
Ever since the advent of Ai chatbots that can practically replicate human language flawlessly, there have been rumors circling around the web that this Ai spring could see many bloggers and marketers lose their jobs. But from what aspect is this conclusion based, seeing that most people are oblivious to the limitations of artificial intelligence, particularly in mimicking human emotions in real-time?
Sure, you could key in a few command prompts and the chatbot could give you answers in a matter of seconds, but does it really feel human? Can human emotion and experience really be narrowed down to paragraphs of articles cranked up by artificial intelligence?
Formal, all too formal
The good thing about human emotion is that it can't be replicated by artificial intelligence, and that's Ai's fundamental flaw because the human soul will not just sit idly by and allow itself to be bogged down by this suspiciously monotonous formality. Are these ai chatbots producing flawless literature and grammar? Sure, but to what extent can a human be fooled by the 'excess formality' of these articles?
Should that be the case then it would go to show that we're robots and not authentic beings with our own unique psychological blueprint. I mean, let's face it. How many times have you been bogged down by endless formalities on the internet only to skip to the next article without completing the prior one? It's because formality can never replace human emotion, regardless of all the hype around artificial intelligence like it's somehow the know-all and be-all of human existence. So much for replicating formalities, but as for the human rationale, we have a long way to go.
Authenticity trumps monotony, always!
It should finally dawn on a few keen individuals such as myself that artificial intelligence has a long way to go before replacing genuine human spontaneity. And even if Ai went as far as taking over people's jobs, let's just hope that it will be replacing robots, because we both know that many careers are robotic and monotonous, to say the least.
But think of all those careers that require genuine and authentic human interaction. Do you honestly think that these Ai chatbots would go as far as replicating said authenticity? Plus, many if not most careers require creativity and above all innovation, which to my knowledge artificial intelligence has a long way to go.
Awareness can't be coded, only replicated
Think of all those times you wasted all your energy on web content that didn't inspire or add value to your life. Because to be aware implies being fully in the present and experiencing every moment in every level of our being, but who's we? Just because we're human doesn't necessarily mean we share the same level of awareness. In fact, all it takes is to observe the short attention spans of most people once they're done perusing their social media platforms for hours on end.
It's this suspiciously blank stare that they present you with that one wonders, could it be possible that they're being zombified by these mind-numbing tactics? So think of the level of awareness that artificial intelligence would need just to keep these people preoccupied for the long haul. The intricate complexity of the human psyche just won't allow itself to be stagnated by chunks of data devoid of awareness, let alone content that doesn't keep us engaged and subsequently raise our awareness levels!
Logos vs Mythos
They say that numbers don't lie, but logic isn't everything. Consider all those times you thought the answers were at your fingertips 'based on your initial estimates', only for unforeseen circumstances to change your fortunes in ways you couldn't even begin to imagine. Does that necessarily imply that we should abandon logic altogether? Certainly not!
But these Ai enthusiasts want us to believe that artificial intelligence will soon be the know-all and be-all of existence, including anticipating every iota of unpredictability in each passing moment. Logic and data may be able to anticipate our every move to a certain extent, but it's no match for the mythos of spontaneous unfolding and becoming that is the anchor of genuine human interactions.
Once again, it becomes obvious that intelligence can only be as artificial as the replica it intends to mimic. In as much as humans are afraid of this Ai spring, how convincing will the upcoming ai be in fully replacing the human capacity for genuine, authentic, intimate work, let alone interaction? Only time will tell.
