By 2022, machine learning will be so common that it’ll seem like magic. At first, you won’t even notice: Your laptop or phone will make tiny adjustments without you knowing it. However, machine learning technology will soon move past what most people call artificial intelligence: By 2024, computers won’t just understand your preferences—they’ll predict them with near perfect accuracy.

While VR has made headlines recently, it’s been around for some time. What we’re seeing now is an acceleration of improvements and changes that are making virtual reality more affordable, more accessible, and more mainstream than ever before. Because of these factors, we expect that by 2022 there will be a significant number of people who use VR as part of their daily lives.

Implanted technology has been around since 1954, but it’s only recently that science has been able to integrate electronics, such as microchips and sensors, into our bodies and brains. The first implantable chip was made available in 1998, but they weren’t used by mainstream medical professionals until 2015 when over 3 million chips were implanted worldwide. By 2022 it is expected that there will be more than 1 billion people with an embedded device!

Automakers, truckers and tech companies are all trying to get their hands on self-driving car technology. These vehicles are expected to completely revolutionize how we commute, but it’s predicted that driverless cars could actually kill roads altogether. While no one quite knows what self-driving cars will be like once they’re widespread, one thing is certain: They’ll eliminate human error and make driving safer than ever before.

5) Space Tourism Will Become Affordable

As we’ve seen with other technologies, making it safer and cheaper always leads to a rapid growth. It won’t be long before private individuals can take flight into space at a relatively low cost. Instead of sending a few lucky astronauts, those who will be flying will likely be everyday people looking for an out-of-this-world experience. And speaking of... Virtual Reality Will Be Part of Our Daily Lives: Although VR has been around for decades, only recently have its capabilities come close to matching our imagination. That is about to change over the next 10 years as prices fall and new advancements are made in terms of hardware capabilities. Not only will VR become part of our daily lives (just like smartphones), but we may even use it more than actual reality itself. VR vacation spots are sure to skyrocket in popularity over time as well!
