Star Wars: You Missed This 'Jedi: Fallen Order' Easter Egg In 'The Book Of Boba Fett'

Another Treat For Fans

The latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett was a feast for fans in a variety of ways. For one, it was another fantastic episode of the season. It also basically gave us the first episode of The Mandalorian Season 3. Lastly, it was chock full of Easter eggs. The episode was absolutely filled to the brim with call-backs and references. There were references to The Phantom Menace, callbacks to season 2 of The Mandalorian, and dozens of Easter eggs to other Star Wars projects and even other franchises outside of Star Wars. However, fans think they have spotted a particular Easter egg in the episode to another beloved, yet unlikely, Star Wars project.

The episode took a detour from Boba’s story to reveal what Mando had been doing since the events of season 2 of The Mandalorian. After obtaining a new mission from The Armorer, he returned to Mos Eisley at the behest of Peli Motto, who said that she had a new ship for him. Mando arrived to find that the ship she had for him was an N-1 Naboo starfighter which was almost completely trashed. Peli assured Mando that the ship would be worth it when it was finished, and she persuaded him to aid her in the construction and restoration process. Mando agreed, and they began work on the ship. As they worked, they were accompanied by Peli Motto’s usual group of droids, but there was an additional one this time. Helping Mando with the ship was a small, bi-pedal droid that bore a surprising resemblance to BD-1 from the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Naturally, fans immediately began to speculate on whether this was, in fact, BD-1. Fans took to Twitter to voice their excitement. The droid looked remarkably similar to BD-1 and it would be amazing to have a Star Wars project like The Mandalorian reference characters from a video game, which does not happen a lot in Star Wars. Some fans have even begun to speculate that, if this indeed was BD-1, it could lead to an appearance from the main character of Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis, who was played brilliantly by Cameron Monaghan.

Unfortunately, there has been no official confirmation that this was BD-1 from Jedi: Fallen Order. While the droid did look similar to BD-1, he was missing BD-1’s red paint job. It is entirely possible that all BD droids looked similar in terms of design. Jedi: Fallen Order also took place in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, which was quite a few years before the events of The Mandalorian. Obviously, characters from that time period have shown up in The Mandalorian, but this is a good argument against that droid being BD-1. It would also be a waste of a character if that was indeed BD-1 but there was no intention to bring Cal into the story.

Even if the character was not BD-1, it is still amazing that more and more Star Wars games are getting recognition in films and series. Of course, it is still possible this was indeed BD-1, and Cal Kestis could appear in the series. Although, that does not seem likely. This is Star Wars, so there are probably millions of BD droids across the galaxy. However, that does not mean that this is only an Easter egg. In Jedi: Fallen Order, BD-1 is a companion character to Cal Kestis, so perhaps this BD droid could become a companion to Mando going forward. Without Grogu, Mando is in need of an adorable and helpful companion. Regardless, it is still great to catch a reference to one of the best Star Wars games of this generation.
