What is a Full Moon?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun is opposite the moon, representing the peak, or climax of the lunar cycle. Throughout history, Full Moons have been known to cause unexpected events, and strange behavior. Because the two luminaries are in opposition to one another, Full Moons are known to highlight any opposing forces or polarities in your life, such as the balance between self and the other, the balance between the masculine and feminine, and the balance between work and home.

Full Moons are also good times to reflect on where you are in life, and where you are headed. While the period between the New Moon and the Full Moon is a time for setting (and achieving) goals, the period between the Full Moon and the next new moon is a time for letting go. Full Moons can also bring about climactic events, and awaken us to powerful truths and realizations. The effects of a Full Moon usually last about two weeks, until the new moon comes along and starts a new cycle.

The Full Moon in Aquarius (opposite the Sun in Leo) highlights the balance between the wants & desires of the individual versus the needs of the community at large.

It may help to think back to whatever intentions you set around the New Moon in Cancer for they should be coming into fruition at this time, as well as six months back to the New Moon in Aquarius. Certain themes may be repeating themselves. Whatever thoughts or intentions you plant now should come into fruition by the New Moon in Leo on August 18th.

Check your natal chart to see which houses Leo & Aquarius fall into. This will tell you more about how the Full Moon will affect you personally.

Those with personal planets or angles 6 and 16 degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) will most especially be affected by this Full Moon

August 2020's Full Moon in Aquarius

The Sun is at home in the sign of Leo, the lion. The Sun is at the center of our solar system. In astrology terms, it represents the conscious ego or our very core sense of self. Similarly, the lion is known as "the king of the jungle," and a symbol of royalty, regality, power & authority. Traditionally, this sign was associated with kings (and queens!) and today, Leo influenced people are still known for their sense of pride and occasionally, their big egos. While yes, Leo can be a fun-loving & entertaining sign, known for it's generosity & nobility, it can also have a hard time seeing outside it's self. It may have a hard time empathizing with others, and while the ego is BIG & they may appear confident, the ego is also very sensitive & fragile. Not the best at digesting a constructive criticism, if you offend a Leo, there's hell to be pay. They are purely made of fire, not water.

In contrast, while Sun in Leo represents the King or our world leaders in any case, the Moon in Aquarius represents the people. It represents not just the will of the individual, as Leo does, but the needs of society at large. Aquarius is the "water-bearer"; the constellation depicts a human being carrying a jug of water, said to symbolize the "waters" of purification, technology & enlightenment or knowledge. Aquarius is known to be a humanitarian. Although an air sign, known to be at home in the realm of ideas or logic rather than emotion, it's connection to water still implies a certain sense of compassion, but compassion for the general public as opposed to the realm of the individual. All air signs, of course, are associated with the socio-relational sphere; with Gemini representing the taking in & exchange of information, Libra representing more personal one-on-one interaction & finding common ground or the "marriage" of minds, and Aquarius representing the ideas & concepts that govern the structure of society as a whole. This isn't to say that Aquarius likes to be governed. In fact, Aquarius is usually known to be a rebel. As an air sign, Aquarius is free like the wind but this is where the cleansing power of the "water" comes in - they cleanse out all of the toxic elements of society as we know it, all that's dirty or in other words, no longer working or functioning the way it was supposed to. It is the sign of innovation and creativity, forcing it to cleanse out the old & worn-out, only to replace it with something newer and (hopefully - it's a process of trial & error) better. Aquarius is associated with values like freedom & liberty, equality & fairness, as well as truth & reason. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense that the Age of Aquarius should correspond with the Age of Apocalypse - which can be defined, in Greek, not as "the end of the world," but "the revelation of truth."

Because the Covid-19 pandemic is still very much a reality, perhaps, there will be some extra tension between those who feel their individuality is somehow suppressed by being asked to wear a mask (Sun in Leo), and those who understand that it's an issue of public health (Moon in Aquarius). You're not a "sheep," for wearing a mask in public but a compassionate person. Considering the needs of immune-compromised people is something you should be doing regardless if its the law or not. If you want to express your individuality, I suggest doing it by making your own masks at home.

The Full Moon in Aquarius & Sun in Leo are making a T-square to Aquarius' modern ruler, Uranus, at 10'38 degrees Taurus. This square further emphasizes the desire or need to express our individuality, and for some of us, the instinct to behave recklessly. I expect for there to be protests throughout the globe. Some of them for worthwhile causes & some of them just for the sake of it. On a more personal level, our emotions may be erratic or a bit all over the place. There might also be shocking surprises in our relationships with others. An unexpected truth might be revealed, changing our direction or our outlook completely.

Other Aspects

Saturn square Mercury: Mind Control?

Meanwhile, Mercury at 27'14 degrees Cancer will be making an almost exact opposition to Aquarius' traditional (and I believe true) ruler, Saturn, currently Retrograde at 27'38 degrees Capricorn. This could indicate doubtful or negative thoughts, as well as communication difficulties. This aspect could also represent thought control. This could be through indirect means (i.e. messages through our media etc.) but it could also be literal. Interestingly, Elon Musk will be releasing a Neurolink chip (which I also discuss here) later this month that will link the mind with the machine. Of course, as with any computer device, there is a potential for these brain-chips to be hacked, potentially controlling our very thoughts....I don't trust it.

Mercury in Cancer is a very emotional placement and interestingly, this whole scenario reminds me of a dream I had six years ago, when I was a sophomore in college. In this dream, I dreamed that we were not given chips exactly but actual brain transplants, and anyone who refused to get one was labelled a "conspiracy theorist," mocked by the media & eventually forced to get one anyway. Essentially, these brain transplants took away all emotion. That was their purpose. Anger was illegal and so was love. We were basically mindless worker bees completely devoted in our service to Mammon. I was originally part of a small group of "truth-fighters," but one by one, they all disappeared, joining the hive of worker bee robots. I had to pretend to be one of them - hiding my true emotions, forcing myself to keep a straight face at all times, acting like Spock basically - to avoid being judged, shamed, or worse, arrested and given a transplant myself. Meanwhile, in secret, I looked everywhere in search for the person - any person - who thought like me (or who thought at all, I should say). Basically with Saturn in the cold & disciplined sign of Capricorn opposite Mercury in the deep & emotional sign of Cancer, our emotional expression is limited and we may not be so easily able to express the truth of how we feel.

Love & War

To perhaps make matters worse, there is a war-like energy in the atmosphere with Mars at 19'22 degrees of it's home sign, Aries almost exact square to Jupiter, currently Retrograde, at 19'50 degrees Capricorn. Jupiter expands whatever it touches, so with Jupiter square Mars, feelings of anger, rage, and aggression will be exaggerated. This is another aspect indicating reckless or impulsive behavior, so try take a step back from these feelings & look at things from a rational perspective before acting now. Acting on impulse will only wind up hurting you in the end. There may be acts of violence and perhaps, even the threat of literal war. I predicted back in 2017 that in addition to worldwide lock-down, widespread economic collapse and a possible pandemic, that 2020 would mark the beginning of World War 3 - to be honest, that was my primary fear & I'm surprised although relieved that it hasn't happened, but the Jupiter-Mars aspect still very well might spark an event that kicks off the war I feared. God, I hope not... sometimes I wish I never got into astrology so I wouldn't have to live in fear of things like this.

On a more positive note, however, Venus at 26'26 degrees Gemini, now out of its post-retrograde shadow phase & separating from a square to the nebulous Neptune, will be making a conjunction to the North Node at 28'28 degrees Gemini. I'm not a numerology person, really, but is it me or do those numbers seem significant? In any case, illusions regarding love & relationships - as well as our values & what we find beautiful - will be shattered. Many of us may find out that the person we idealized while Venus was Retrograde, whether an ex or somebody we've just met, isn't who we believed them to be. Many of us may have also discovered that we've been looking for love in the wrong places, chasing after illusions. The conjunction to the North Node will align us with our true destiny, our true soulmate, or perhaps even more beautiful than that, self-love.

Sun & Moon square Uranus = Electric Shock

Conclusion

Overall, the Full Moon in Aquarius highlights the duality between the decisions of our leaders and the collective will amongst the common people they rule. It might also highlight the dichotomy between our selfish wants as individuals and what we know we need to do in order to protect the welfare of the public at whole. The Sun & Moon make a square to Aquarius' modern ruler, Uranus, indicating rebellious or just plain erratic or disruptive feelings in the air. There may be protests throughout the globe and on a personal level, shocking & surprising revelations. Aquarius' traditional ruler, Saturn, in it's other home sign of controlling Capricorn, will be making an opposite to Mercury, planet of communication & logical thought, in the emotional sign of Cancer, at the same time as this Full Moon. This indicates mind control & inhibitions in communication, particularly regarding more emotional topics of discussion. Meanwhile, Mars in it's home sign of war-like Aries will be opposite Jupiter, the planet of expansion, in authoritarian Capricorn, indicating explosive feelings of anger, and potentially, although hopefully not, war at the hands of our leaders. But on the bright side, Venus will be exiting it's retrograde shadow phase in the flaky but communicative & free-thinking sign of Gemini & exiting a square to Neptune in its romantic but delusional home sign of Pisces, shattering any illusions we've been holding onto in love. As the conjunction to the North Node suggests, however, those illusions will only be replaced by something even better than you can imagine. Overall, there is a LOT going on in the stars. A mixture of of love & war, government or corporate oppression and the people standing up to unite in rebellion against it, once & for all.
