A couple of weeks ago, Mark Hamill shared some behind-the-scenes footage of himself and co-stars Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford from the set of Star Wars: A New Hope. Hamill recalled the event fondly in his caption of the video as the actors tried to cheer up George Lucas:

"Here we are behaving like total brats, ganging up on George & teasing him mercilessly."

It was a fitting description of the video in which the main cast members ribbed Lucas for a mic left in the camera's field of view. From the looks of it, they were filming on the iconic Death Star set, the backdrop of most of A New Hope. For fans, this is a nostalgic callback to the film that started it all, and a fun remembrance of the trio’s friendship.

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford shared onscreen chemistry that had carried over even to the sequel movies, in which they reprised the roles. Although the trio never shares screen-time all at once in the sequel trilogy, the same energy they created among each other is there, reminiscent of the original trilogy. Since the passing of Fisher in 2016, moments like these have meant everything to fans who mourn her loss deeply, and Hamill who has never stopped sharing.

Hamill and Fisher retained a close friendship even after their Star Wars days seemed to be at an end. The reunion between the two in The Last Jedi is a true testament to this. This behind-the-scene footage that Hamill shared on Instagram highlights the foundation their friendship was built upon. And for Hamill, sharing these snippets is one of the ways he keeps himself connected to Star Wars.

Unlike co-star Ford, who has been reluctant to rejoin the world of Star Wars, but did return for The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker, Hamill has remained dedicated to the franchise after his role as Luke Skywalker concluded at the close of the original trilogy. He returned as an older and wiser Luke Skywalker in the sequel trilogy, even appearing as a Force ghost in The Rise of Skywalker. Most recently, he took to playing a much younger version of himself in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Hamill aided in acting and voicing, as well as lending his face for a combination of stunt-double miming and CGI that brought the Luke Skywalker we all remember from Return of the Jedi back to life. Although the use of such technology was heavily critiqued, there is no doubt that seeing Luke brought back to life meant a great deal to a lot of fans. And none of it would have been possible without Hamill's continued work as Skywalker.

With Star Wars fans desperate for footage relating to the soon-to-be-screened Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Hamill's post came at the perfect time. The post itself garnered over one million views, a testament to the dedication of fans all around the world. As always, Hamill seems to have his finger on the pulse of the Star Wars community. It is unclear when or if another trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi might drop, so for now, we have this to hold us over.
