Mark Hamill Shows Off Hilarious Behind The Scenes Pictures From ‘The Empire Strikes Back’

As more and more years have passed since the release of each Star Wars movie, Star Wars fans get to learn more and more about what went on behind the scenes from the actors themselves. Perhaps nobody has fully embraced their time on the sets of the movies more so than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. Hamill, who is very active on Twitter, often graciously replies to fans' questions there with jokes or behind the scenes information on the six films that he appeared in.

Most recently, Hamill replied to a fan asking about a photo that Hamill had shared showing himself being lifted up by a crew member during the filming of a particular scene from Empire Strikes Back. This was when he had been captured and imprisoned by the Wampa on Hoth. It had left him hanging feet first from an icy ceiling with plans to eat him later.

Hamill pointed out that the crew would lift him up between takes so that they could continue shooting without having to take him down every time. Talk about the blood rushing to your head!

With the Skywalker Saga concluding with 2019's Rise of Skywalker and his role as the legendary Jedi Master effectively over, Hamill has moved on to other acting opportunities. He has recently been seen in Serbia filming The Machine where he plays the role of a father who is kidnapped along with his son (played by Bert Kreischer) due to the son’s past connections with the Russian mob. Hamill has also made sporadic appearances in film and television since the release of the original trilogy. His most well-known role was voicing the devious Batman villain The Joker on Batman: The Animated Series during its run.

Meanwhile, even without Hamill's presence, there are adventures aplenty continuing in the galaxy far, far away. Book of Boba Fett is due to launch by the end of this year on December 29th. A trailer was recently released to whet fans' appetite. Disney+ Day coming up this Friday November 12th will feature a documentary about the (in)famous galactic bounty hunter. The show itself will feature Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, who had appeared in The Mandalorian. The series was teased at the end of the second season of The Mandalorian, showing Boba and Fennec returning to Tatooine and killing the late Jabba's majordomo, Bib Fortuna. Boba Fett then takes the throne of the late Jabba the Hutt, and thus assumes control of his criminal empire on Tatooine.

Other upcoming shows for 2022 include Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will feature the exploits of the legendary Jedi Master during his exile on Tatooine. Andor will take a look at the intrepid Rebel intelligence officer from Rogue One prior to the events of the movie. The next season of The Mandalorian is set to launch some time in 2022, continuing the adventures of Din Djarin (aka. "Mando") and his allies. In addition, several spin-offs remain in active development, such as Ashoka, featuring the beloved former Jedi first introduced in The Clone Wars and continuing her story threads from Rebels. There is also an untitled Taika Waititi movie coming soon.

Unfortunately, there have been some minor recent setbacks such as the shelving of Rangers of the New Republic, another spin-off from The Mandalorian. The Rogue Squadron movie helmed by director Patty Jenkins has also been delayed due to scheduling conflicts.

Every franchise has suffered setbacks and Star Wars is no different. However, with the sheer volume of currently available Star Wars content as well as the ongoing development and production thereof, fans will have more content at their fingertips now and for the foreseeable future, especially on the Disney+ streaming service.
