The Future Is Nuclear
In a world of mass disinformation, it is easy to let opinions and speculation get in the way of facts and science. It is no secret our climate is changing. What is difficult is accurately predicting the impact this change will have on the immediate and long-term futures. Due to a mainly political agenda, alternative fuels such as wind, hydroelectric, and solar power have been idolized as our planet’s saving grace. At the same time, exaggerated claims have destroyed the reputation of anything nuclear, and has made the subject almost taboo. However, when presented objectively with the facts, as well as the sheer potential of fission/fusion technology, it is understandable to see nuclear power is the most viable alternative to fossil fuels in the fight to deter climate change.

Well, well, well, Gemini. How did it feel to be told about yourself this Taurus season... What ugly truths came out? We were like a child being told to sit in the corner, and think about what we've done.
Prof. PersonalPublished 5 years ago in FuturismThe Hunter
I slap at an inoculation-mozzie on my neck, as I aim my harpoon launcher at the heat signature of the deer that runs across the forest floor, the swelling sounds of Smashing Pumpkins "Cupid De Locke" filling up my ears. The deer stops, taking shelter underneath a tree. I squeeze the trigger. CRACK! The deer falls down, and turns translucent as several spinning chunks of meat appear. Epic Victory: Clean Kill! a deep voice shouts as the celebratory text repeats the sound across my field of view. I see my hunter level rising at the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Haha, suck on that Nguyen. I clamour down the branches of the tree, retrieve my harpoon, wrench the deer open with my implanted hand claws, then put the meat inside my metal jaw and chew. It tastes like pork, but gamier. It’s deliriously good. The other Reavers run out from their hiding spots, and jump and cheer around me, picking up the meat, and tearing into it. Soon, only a skeleton is left. A Reaver hoists it up over their shoulders.

Chapters 1 - 11 can be read at: Deep Sky Stories & IllustrationsNot very far away, Sergeant Jim Cash slowly drove his police cruiser down the quiet dusty country lanes. Good ol' sleepy Delta-Town was just fine with him. So calm...so predictable... so... (blip-blip).
G.F. BrynnPublished 5 years ago in FuturismAnti-Matter Interference Patterns
For years the idea of Young's famed double slit experiment has been researched and tested by many physicists, from school students to acclaimed researchers, and it proves light exhibits wave-like behaviour (via diffraction and interference). However, the progression of this experiment was at the very forefront of new physics—Quantum Mechanics. This occurred due to the discovery of the wave-particle duality in which the same experiments were carried out with electrons, showing that they, too, act as a wave in such conditions; yet researchers have put an entirely new ‘spin’ on the idea.

Johnnie McArdlePublished 5 years ago in Futurism'Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures' Volume 5 Review
In 2015, Big Finish Productions took a bit of a gamble when they released the first set of Third Doctor Adventures with actor Tim Trealor stepping into the shoes of Jon Pertwee's legendary incarnation of the Time Lord. The result was a success that has spawned a range of stories with Trealor acting alongside Katy Manning, herself reprising her role of companion Jo Grant from the early 1970s. And yet, for fans of this era of Doctor Who, there has perhaps been a sense of something missing without the inclusion of the fuller UNIT team. So it is that Big Finish once again has rolled the dice to an extent with two more characters from the era finding themselves portrayed by new performers in this, the fifth volume of the series, as well as the addition of another figure making their debut in the range. It's a lot, to be sure, but does it work?
Matthew KresalPublished 5 years ago in FuturismThe Implausibility of Popular Sci-Fi Aliens - Part Three
Communicating and interacting in any meaningful way with a truly alien species might prove extremely difficult, and perhaps impossible. In this concluding part of the trilogy, we will investigate some of the truly alien species and civilisations depicted in less mainstream sci-fi, and discuss the difficulties we might have communicating and interacting with them.
Iain BakerPublished 5 years ago in FuturismIgnorance Is Bliss... My Take on 'The Matrix'
First of all, let me start off with a disclaimer. The Matrix is my favorite movie; please do not think that because I am writing this essay that I disapprove of the movie as a whole. The point of this essay is to the pose the question of whether or not they should have even wanted to wake up from the Matrix—let alone made it their life mission to destroy the Matrix. While the AI and Matrix was the enemy, I think there is also much truth in the phrase “ignorance is bliss,” and that’s exactly what the Matrix was. People got to live their lives thinking they were living in a perfectly fine world. They then were woken up to realize they were actually living in a post-apocalyptic world and they couldn’t even see sunlight.
Alexis RoulettePublished 5 years ago in FuturismThe Best Sci-Fi Writers
My love affair with science fiction dates from the first time I saw Star Wars as an enthralled kid who wished he could become a Jedi. Since then, I have scoured the movie, and book racks for anything that could be considered a member of the genre. For those of you who are just beginning in the science fiction field, this list should be a pretty good starting point—and for those of you who already know all of the names listed here, I'd love to debate and discuss the rankings or the exclusions for as long as you are willing.

In the last article we looked at the boring and implausible biology of sci fi aliens. Now we will take a look at the equally boring and implausible civilisations these aliens have created.
