Black Krrsantan's Possible Connection To 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Series

Where Else Would You Like To See The Imposing Wookiee Show Up?

In less than a few weeks, Black Krrsantan has risen to stardom in the wider Star Wars fandom. The fierce Wookiee bounty hunter's striking design and vicious fighting style have quickly made him one of the most memorable characters in The Book of Boba Fett. While I have no doubt that Krrsantan will play a larger role in this series, there is also a popular theory going around about a role the character could be playing in another upcoming Star Wars series.

One of the most popular stories from Krrsantan's history comes in the form of the 20th issue of Jason Aaron's 2015 Star Wars comic run. In said issue, we get a dive into one of the excerpts from the journal of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which Luke Skywalker is currently reading. The excerpt describes an incident in which Jabba the Hutt, after having his water tax foiled by Kenobi, sends Krrsantan to intimidate the Lars family into paying the crime lord.

Krrsantan quickly arrives at the Lars homestead and kidnaps Owen Lars in an attempt to scare the money out of him and his family. However, Kenobi himself arrives soon after and fights off the Wookiee. During the struggle, Kenobi uses his lightsaber to cut Krrsantan across the face, leaving a visible scar that can still be seen over his left eye in The Book of Boba Fett. With the help of Owen Lars, Kenobi is able to fight off Krrsantan and send him falling over the edge of a cliff. Fearing punishment from Jabba over his failure, the Wookiee later flees Tatooine to find new work in the criminal underworld.

One of the most notable aspects of this story is its place in the Star Wars timeline. Kenobi's encounter with Krrsantan happens exactly ten years prior to Episode IV: A New Hope, which, interestingly enough, is the same time frame as the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor. The show itself has been described as one that starts off with the titular Jedi protecting the Lars family, only for it to grow and expand from there into a rollicking, galaxy-spanning adventure. With all that said, I think it's possible that the first episode of Kenobi may not just show the Jedi protecting the Lars family, but specifically the story in which he saves them from Krrsantan.

Krrsantan's costume, excellently brought to life by actor Carey Jones, is a remarkable feat by Lucasfilm's costume department, feeling organic and alive even as he fights multiple combatants. With so much work having been put into Krrsantan's look, one would assume that Lucasfilm would use the character as often as they could. Plus with Krrsantan now having been established as a presence on Tatooine, it would not be unexpected to see the Wookiee again in Kenobi, as he would still be working for Jabba and be more than a match for the old hermit.

Portraying Kenobi's fight with Krrsantan in live action would be an effective way to establish the show's status quo before sending the Jedi off on his epic journey. Krrsantan has also proven to be an effective foe and memorable character in his own right, giving Kenobi a solid threat to start off with before working his way up through the ranks of the Empire on his way back to his former apprentice. If Kenobi's encounter with the Wookiee gladiator doesn't happen in the first episode of his series, I won't be disappointed. But I personally think that starting Kenobi with that fight would make sense for the story and continue to help the Star Wars galaxy feel even more connected.
