ANIME DEDICATED TO TEACHERS WHO ARE TRUE TO THEIR PROFESSION

Assassination classroom is an anime series that is mainly based on assassination but it has shown an ideal teacher. The teacher-student relationship is a secondary plot of the series but I found that presentation very interesting. Teaching is one of the pure and responsible professions in society. It is the job of a teacher to guide young minds to pave their path in the future.

The plot of the series is there is a certain class in certain which is discriminated against on basis of marks. That class is 3-E of Kunugigaoka school. In this class, poor performer students are treated differently. As a punishment, they were forced to study in an isolated old campus which is in the mountains which lacked modern facilities. While the rest of the students got modern facilities in the main campus.

One day 70% of the moon got blown making it appear as a crescent shape. After that incident, an alien appeared before class claiming that he is the one who blew the moon and he is planning to do so on the earth next year. He put the condition before the Japanese government that he will be teaching those students in isolated campus until that time in the exchange that those can attempt an assassination on him. That alien appears like an octopus but can speak and express emotions as human beings.

By cooperation of the school principal, the ministry of defense established an assassination classroom consisting of students of 3-E. they were asked to keep this secret from their parents and friends as it is a matter of national security and public safety. The students began their special training along with a normal academic curriculum to assassinate their teacher before they graduate.

The series is funny and inspirational to watch. There are many scenes that give motivation to students to move forward in their lives despite odds. In this series, the ideal presentation of a teacher is done. As time changes, the way of teaching changes but the essence of the teacher and the motive behind teaching remains the same i.e., growth and development of the student.

In the series, the teacher known as ‘Koro-sensei’ gives motivation to his students by becoming their targets. Though it is unconventional and seems awkward in the beginning but by the end, the true purpose of the series appears. Koro-sensei reminded everyone through the series that a teacher is like another parent at school who corrects and directs the path taken by students. Since every student is different in his/her own way so it is important to advise in that manner rather than a collective approach to all.

Today, it is often seen that teaching became a profession where financial gain is more important than student’s welfare. So many schools clog a class with 70 to 80 students with a single teacher to attend them for few hours in a week due to which even some responsible teachers fail to achieve their motive to give justifiable time to all the students. I know like in the series it is impossible for a teacher to attend everyone (F.Y.I. in the series the monstrous teacher or Koro-sensei moves with the speed of Mach 20 i.e., 6860 m/s) but still, it is the duty of a teacher to guide the students for their bright future. At the end of the series, the students who were criticized as a failure secured top positions in their batch and because of collective efforts made by them and their teacher they got a chance to stand equal to other students who were hailed as prodigies. Though the end was unexpected but set a perfect example of a teacher-student relationship.

Personally, it reminded me about my school days. Though I won’t say that my experience with teachers was like in the series but still it made me remember the efforts made by my teachers which I denied to recognize them at that time. I hope the future generation take lessons from the series try to enjoy their time in schools with their teachers and their classmates.
