We need to stop always thinking about the negative

If you hear somebody complaining about or talking shit about a specific sign, it’s usually Scorpio (or Gemini). Often this is just because people love to pick up on trends and so if it’s popular to pick on a particular sign, other people are going to join in whether or not they actually know anything about astrology or that particular sign. People also like to generalize based on one bad experience (no judgment, us Scorpios do that too).

All signs have both negative and positive traits just as all people in general do. If you’re looking for the negative, you’re going to find it. You could meet a million perfectly lovely Scorpios every day (and you probably do, honestly) but the one time you find one that fits the negative stereotypes, that’s the one you’re going to remember. And then you’re gonna tell all your friends and they’re just going to add it to their list of reasons why Scorpios are omg so fucking awful.

Here are some stereotypes about Scorpios that aren’t always true. If you find yourself saying, “But I’ve met a Scorpio who is just like that!” you’re missing the entire point of this article and should sit down and chill for a bit.

Scorpios are obsessive to a fault

Scorpios can totally be obsessive. They don’t like doing things halfway. They can be really good at internet stalking people and remembering who all slept with who in a 16 season medical drama. You may even know a Scorpio or know someone who knows a Scorpio who had a hard time letting go of a relationship, long after most people would have.

This doesn’t mean every single Scorpio you meet is going to be a stalker who obsesses over every single relationship they’ve ever been in and incessantly researches all their ex’s new partners.

If you look at things in a more positive light, Scorpios can simply be passionate about what they do and the things they like. It’s not bad to love things so much you want to know everything about it, especially if these things are books or television shows or the fall of the Roman Empire.

Scorpios can also be loyal. They can be great friends who are always willing to be there for you, help you out, or hide a body in a pinch if you really need it. They are absolutely capable of having a healthy level of attachment to people.

Being really good at internet stalking is great in potential catfishing scenarios, though.

Scorpios are nymphomaniacs

It’s true, some Scorpios are horny on main 24/7/365 (366 during leap year). But not all of them are.

It may be hard to believe, but there are ace-spectrum (asexual, demisexual, etc.) Scorpios, Scorpios who have low sex drives, or Scorpios who just don’t like having sex for one reason or another. This stereotype can actually feel really shitty for people who fall into these categories-- I get a lot of questions from people asking if they are “really a Scorpio” because they don’t like to have sex and comments about people feeling like they are a letdown to potential partners who just assume because they’re dating a Scorpio, that they are going to be having sex all the time.

Even if you do encounter a Scorpio who is usually DTF, it doesn’t mean they’re going to fuck you. Being born under a particular sign isn’t a guarantee for sex and it isn’t consent. That should be a no-brainer but apparently, it isn’t for some people.

Scorpios are jealous

Everyone, from the most practical of Capricorns to the most laid-back of Libras, gets jealous sometimes. It’s a normal human (or human-appearing) emotion. No matter how much we sometimes like to pretend otherwise, emotions aren’t a bad thing in and of themselves. Everyone gets sad or angry or afraid. Sometimes they’re at that special age where they only have one thing on their mind and that thing is homicide. It’s not wrong to feel things, I totally promise.

What really matters is how somebody reacts to that jealousy. Honestly, Scorpios are sometimes shit at conveying how they feel to people so you may not even know they’re feeling jealous. They might react negatively to feelings of jealousy (which is not a Scorpio-only thing). But they also might say, “Yeah, I’m feeling this way, but that’s no reason to act like a dick,” and get on with their day.

Scorpios don’t trust anyone

An absolute, downright lie, to be entirely honest. Scorpios don’t always trust easily and it can take some time to earn our trust, but we totally trust people. Those people are usually our closest friends but sometimes they are also random drunk girls in bathrooms who just seem totally pure and trustworthy and who definitely won’t tell all our secrets to anyone who matters.

Whether or not we’re talking about a Scorpio or something else, remember that you aren’t owed trust from everyone. Do things that prove you are trustworthy and it can be earned. Don’t be a dick and tell your girlfriend and all your mutual friends things you promised to never tell anyone and you’ll probably keep that trust.

Scorpios never forgive

First off: not every offense is worth forgiving. Blah blah blah about forgiving everyone to release your own resentment or anger but you can get over something and not be angry about it anymore and still not want to let somebody who hurt you back into your life.

Honestly, a lot of people want to go around yelling about how some bitch of a Scorpio won’t forgive them even though they said sorry but they need to get over themselves.

Just because you apologize doesn’t mean you are owed forgiveness and even if somebody does forgive you, it doesn’t mean they’re going to automatically trust you again and that everything is going to go back to normal. This is honestly how many Scorpios feel (not just Scorpio suns, but Scorpio moons and those with many planets in Scorpio as well).

It might take some time but Scorpios are like anyone else. If you prove that you are truly sorry, that you aren’t going to make the same mistake again, that you have actually changed and aren’t just paying lip service, they can forgive you.

TO SUM UP: Stereotypes can be true. But they aren’t always and even if they are, they aren’t always a bad thing. People also have way more going on than just their sun sign and to claim that there are only 12 types of people and one of them (Scorpio) is the Absolute Worse is ridiculous.

(Same goes for Gemini. Y’all are true bros and deserve better.)
