Since she was a little girl, Linda wanted to help everyone around her, but she realized that it wasn’t always possible as she grew up. That never stopped her, and in her late twenties, she volunteered in a community kitchen when she wasn’t working. As a consequence, she had little to no social life, but she was happy like that.

It was during one of those days that she met Carlson. He was a young homeless man, probably around her age. He had kind eyes and long hair that got to his shoulders, as well as a scraggly beard. He was polite, and he always had presence of mind, so she wondered why he lived on the streets.

She didn’t see him one night, and she had a bad feeling about it. She asked one of the people who slept in the same park as he did.

“Hey Peter, have you seen Carlson?”

Peter was drunk but could still answer coherently, which Linda was thankful for.

“I saw him in the park a few hours ago; he seemed in pain.”

“Is he still there?”

“Probably, I don’t know.”

Linda told the other volunteers that she had to go because something came up. None of them minded because she was hard-working and was always going above and beyond. Plus, she was a volunteer, so she could technically leave whenever she wanted.

She took her apron off and left it there, and jumped on her car. She drove above the speed limit towards the park, worrying about the worst. She hoped that he wasn’t attacked or that he wasn’t severely ill.

Most of the park’s lights didn’t work. She had previously reported it to the appropriate authorities, but nobody lifted a finger without a ton of forms and procedures. Bureaucracy at its finest. She parked her car by the entrance, and she ran towards the area where the homeless people slept, but he was nowhere to be found. She was thankful that the full moon provided some additional light.

Linda ventured into the far end of the park, a place with no lights or people, and she was worried about being mugged, but she was more concerned about Carlson. She found him, eventually, curved into a ball on the ground.

Her heart skipped a beat, worrying for the worst. She ran there and kneeled next to him.

“Carlson. Can you hear me? Are you okay?”

“Who… is this?”

His voice was cracking and almost gone.

“I’m Linda, from the community kitchen. I’ll call 911.”

“No, don’t. Linda, listen, you need to get out of here.”

“What do you mean? I can’t leave you here like this.”

A deep growl built up in his throat. Linda fell to her ass in surprise.

“It’s the full moon. It does something to me,” he said.

“I’m staying with you.”

He tried to keep his transformation from happening, but it wasn’t possible anymore. His face morphed and his factions deformed, he grew fur all over his body, and his teeth turned into sharp fangs.

Linda was in shock, watching how the thin man that she always served food for turned into a monster before her eyes. He was a werewolf, just like the ones from the folk tales.

He looked at her with the saddest eyes. He no longer looked in pain, which she was thankful for, but she was still in shock.

“I didn’t want you to see me like this,” he said, with a more resonant voice than usual. “This happens every full moon, so I come to the far end of the park to avoid being seen. How did you find me?”

“One of your friends told me that you looked in pain today, and I got worried.”

The werewolf was hidden under a blanket of darkness, barely illuminated by the moon, but she could see a smile on his face.

“Don’t worry,” he said, “I won’t return to the community kitchen. I’ll find somewhere else.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m a monster. I don’t even know why you’re still here.”

“You’re not a monster; you’re Carlson. And I’m still here because I want to, and I’m not scared of you.”

She swore that she saw a tear running down his face, but she wasn’t sure because of the darkness engulfing them.

“How long does it take for you to… get back to normal?”

“Until the sun comes up.”

“I’ll wait here with you in that case.”

“Why would you do that?”

“I don’t want you to be alone.”

They spent the whole night in silence. Carlson felt too guilty even to look her in the eye, but he turned back to normal when the sun came out. She was still shocked, but she hit it from him.

“Come with me, let’s go,” she said.

“Where?”

“To my place.”

They walked to her car, and she drove home. She gave him a warm meal and directed him to the bathroom with a razor so he could shave and take a shower. She waited in the living room, nervous and surprised with herself for bringing a man home like that.

He looked like a completely different man after shaving and taking a shower. She could never take a good look at his eyes before because his hair fell on his face, but he had it pulled back.

Her heartbeat faster when she saw him like that. Carlson was kind, but he also looked handsome now when he wasn’t covering his face.

“When was the last time that you had a haircut?”

“I don’t remember; it’s been too long.”

“May I cut your hair?”

She spoke without thinking, but she didn’t regret it. She wanted to help him, and her heart told her that she had to get closer to him.

“I don’t want to bother you further. You’ve done so much for me already.”

“It’s not a bother. Let me get the scissors. Grab a chair from the dining room and sit down.”

She took her time grooming him. His hair fell to the floor while she worked, and they talked meanwhile. Linda learned that he had the curse since he had memory, and his parents got a priest to try to fix him. They banished him from their home and family after the priest said it was impossible because the devil had taken root inside him.

She teared up during his story and commiserated with him about his family.

“You’re one of the few people that has shown me kindness in my whole life,” he said. “Thank you.”

“I just did what any decent person would have done,” she said, wiping a tear away.

“In that case, you’re the first decent person that I’ve met. I think there’s a shortage.”

She opened up about her family and her struggles that she always kept hidden behind her smile and positive attitude. She was struggling too, away from her family and without many friends that would listen like he was. There was some crying from both parts.

“There, it’s done,” she said. “Let me hand you a mirror.”

She grabbed one from her room and gave it to him.

“This is amazing. Thank you, you did a wonderful job.”

Carlson looked happy, and she was pleased in return. He was handsome, and looking at him topless made her feel a tingle between her thighs. She shook her head to try to bury that thought, but she couldn’t. Her mind trailed off, and she imagined herself embracing him, kissing him, and letting him take her. The fantasy became more explicit, with her imagining taking his cock into her mouth and then getting fucked from behind. The girl didn’t usually have those kinds of thoughts, but Carlson reignited a previously dead sex drive.
