This night was darker than most, more notably so due to the storm overhead. The smell of flesh and decay filled the air as Jessica crawled on the ground through the corpses and shredded remains of her friends. Organs were still warm to her touch. Terror spread throughout the young woman as her adrenaline peaked. Jessica’s nails dug deep into the ground, pulling herself forward until the front of her dress was pulled open, revealing her dirty breasts.

Coated in the flesh of her friends, Jessica stood and began to run. Rain continued to pour from the skies as thunder shook the ground. Anywhere was better than where she was. Jessica felt low brush pull against her dress as she ran blindly into the night. Behind her was something beyond her imagination, something horrible, something dark, something grotesque and most definitely evil.

While the innocent, young, virgin fled, she left behind pieces of her garments, allowing for her trail to be easily followed. The stench of death followed Jessica for three days. During each of which Jessica managed to make it home, safe, and alive. Unable to cope with what had happened, she locked herself in her home, alone.

“Good Morning!”

Jessica stepped outside for the first time since the event. Still in shock, and silent to the authorities, she merely smiled at the postman. The sun was bright… too bright. Jessica rose her hand as a shield.

“You don’t look well, Jessica,” the older postman stated, firmly. Leaning in for a closer look at the scratches on her hand resulted in the door immediately shutting in his face. With a shrug, he continued with his day, but never forgetting the strange bloody tears. He knew humans did not bleed thick black tar substances that he had seen dripping down the young woman’s arm.

“No, no, no, it didn’t happen like that,” Jessica said to herself, sitting on the floor with her back to the door. She clutched her head, trying to make sense of what had happened. The fact was, she wasn’t capable of understanding.

The creature was not of this world, nor of another world, but of a different reality. A reality that was dying. Sentient, smart, and hungry, the beast fed on males, and bred females. After breeding the female, it must complete the process by killing the human so that the offspring can be fed with the decayed corpse flesh.

Jessica stood and walked to the bathroom. Splashing water onto her face, she tried to wake from the horrible reality she had suddenly stepped into. The realization that her friends were now all dead in the woods, shredded and clawed to death by something in the darkness was far more than she could bear. Her mind was shattered and breaking down further by the minute.

As the day went on, Jessica was more and more on edge than ever. Every little sound made her jump. When the sun went down, Jessica made her way to her bathroom. She had planned for quite the evening that included a bubble bath, wine, and her favorite incense.

Walking down the hallway, Jessica heard a sound. Even though she tried to brush it off, she simply couldn’t as the sound persisted. It sounded as if someone was knocking on the back door – which led to the backyard, and the woods behind the small fence. Taken back, Jessica walked over to the door as she picked up a knife off the counter.

Jessica reached the door, however, there was nobody there. The motion-detection light hadn’t even triggered. Shrugging, Jessica headed up the stairs back towards the bathroom. She knew she was tense. This bath would help ease her nerves. With a deep sigh, Jessica slipped into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. Even though the door shut, it didn’t click, thus creaking itself open just a crack and a barely audible squeak.

Removing her nightgown, Jessica dropped the last of her garments to the floor. She quickly slipped into the warm water that embraced her exhausted body. It hadn’t even been five minutes before Jessica started hearing sounds down the hallway and stairs. The noise continued for several minutes – scraping and heavy dragging. It sounded as if it was directly below her – in the living room.

Jessica was entirely horrified. Shaking, she stood from the bath, dripping wet. The heavy dragging sounds turned into thuds. It sounded as if something was coming up the stairs. Jessica reached over for her phone to call the police. With an accidental motion, her phone was in the water, as was her wine glass on the floor, shattering into a million pieces.

The sound of glass tinkling across the floor echoed out the bathroom. Without even a moment hesitation thuds shaking the house began to increase in speed. Jessica knew exactly what was happening as she rushed to the closet attached to the bathroom. Quickly slipping inside, she tried to slow her breathing as to be as quiet as possible.

Through the slits in the door Jessica could see what was stalking her. She felt terror creep up her veins as if it were ice. Her body froze. Even her lungs seized in response to the sight. Unable to move, much less breath, Jessica stared at the creature.

Crouched over on two thick trunks of hands with massive a backside, the thing took up the entire hallway, pushing the drywall outwards as it made its way forward. The house shook as pieces broke around
