I wave at the bartender; he nods back, reaching for my usual. Understanding has grown between us, I don't even know how many beers in I am by now, my slightly blurred vision should be a reliable indication I've had a bit too many drinks for this early on in the night.

Ignoring my bodies objection, I take the beer handed to me and thank Blake.

Since arriving back in town I've frequented this place for quiet drinks, usually alone in the early evening. Blake is gradually becoming somewhat of a friend to me, the best bartender in town in my books.

He's the silent type, the best kind of company when you need the peace.

Bartenders are the best listeners, who needs to pay for counseling when you can pay for alcohol and an ear to listen, win-win if you ask me.

I turn on my bar stool, watching the crowd grow as the night goes on.

Brodie is off dancing with her friends, Reid is in the dark corner making out with some random girl. Nico and Reggie are sitting beside me, but they're both in their own world lost in conversation.

I lean back propping an elbow on the bar to steady myself, relaxing as I take a sip of my beer and people-watch, but nothing can stop my mind from traveling to thoughts of Lake.

My drunken mind adores her, choosing to go straight to memories of last night, memories of Lake and her profile lit up in the moonlight against the dark night sky.

Fuck. I can't be thinking about her or any other girl like this.

I shouldn't be thinking about her; I need to drown any thoughts of her until they're erased from my fucked-up mind.

Tapping my phone, I check the time. Almost 10 pm; Aspen should be here soon. I better cut back on the drinking; for now, at least, I don't want my baby sister seeing me this way.

I turn to face Reggie and Nico, who are both immersed in a heated discussion, from what I can hear something about the side effects of Viagra.

Weird.

I stare at them both, confusion furrowing my brows, how that conversation sparked, I don't even want to know. What kind of twenty-one-year-olds goes to a bar, and discuss the effects of Viagra?

Answer; my friends.

"It's pretty busy tonight, yeah?" I cut in, both turn to face me, huge grins letting me know my assumption was right, there were a lot more people here than on other nights we've played.

Whether the turnout has got anything to do with us or not, who knows. To be fair, we don't go on stage for another hour and a bit, so I doubt all these people are all here to see us.

I remember when Club R first opened, it was dead quiet and relaxing. I prefer it that way when we aren't playing shows, but for a show, this turn out is impressive.

Cash, the owner of this bar is one of our good friends from school, the friendly, quiet, unsuspecting guy, but to us, he was a dependable friend.

His dream was always to open a bar, and I'm damned proud he achieved his goal at such a young age.

Barely twenty-one and he is the sole owner of one of the most popular bars in our area.

"Good turnout, it's going to be a fun show!" Reggie cheers, raising his one beer high for us to meet, let's hope he sticks to one beer at a time until our set is done.

Not that I can judge, I've had a bit too much to drink for before a show, stupid move on my part. I've played in a worse state than this though so I'll be fine.

"Is Aspen coming?" Nico asks, sipping his beer; his stare stuck straight ahead to the mirror behind the bar, glaring at his own reflection.

"Yeah, she's coming with a couple of her friends I think."

Aspen texted me earlier with her guest list for the night, it seemed odd to me, but apparently, she is coming with her friends, Loyalty, and Bunny.

Yeah, fake names, typical Aspen.

Why she felt the need for fakes names, I don't know, but I'm sure it's some stupid inside joke with her and her friends.

"I thought Reid had a girl coming to meet him?" Nico asks, his gaze now focused over his shoulder to where Reid sits. A pretty girl straddling his lap as he practically devours her neck, lapping at her like a dog, revolting.

"Yeah, I thought so too." I retort in disgust shaking my head as we both watch the show going on in the dark corner. The thought of some nice girl coming here excited to see Reid, and he is over there with some random girl playing tongue hockey, the guy is never going to change or settle down.

I know that for a fact, his actions tonight prove that. He claims to care for this girl on a different level, but his actions say otherwise.

"I hope she sees him with that girl," I start, causing Reggie and Nico to both glance over at me, confused. "Not so she gets hurt, but so that she saves herself from further heartache after getting attached to his lying ass." Nico snorts and nods his head slightly, Reggie rolls his eyes, both agreeing with me wholly.

A heavy hand slaps down on my shoulder, drawing my glare to the familiar fingers grabbing with a little too much force.

"Never fear my friends; I am done with all that," Reid states, waving his free hand in the direction of the girl he was making out with just a few seconds ago like a horny teenager.

"Done with what?" Reggie asks with a shrug. He isn't catching on to the hints that Reid is dropping, but I do.

"Man, you couldn't keep your hands to yourself for even half an hour," I state, shrugging his hand off of my shoulder.

We arrived just over thirty minutes ago; it didn't take Reid longer than five minutes to examine the bar and find his prey.

"My future wife is arriving soon, so I am going to behave myself now." Reid smiles, grabbing a beer from the bartender. I roll my eyes, nothing I can say will stop the events of tonight from happening.

Reid is going to break that poor girl's heart, and there's nothing I can do about it.

Choosing to ignore him, I stand up from the bar, searching the dance floor for Brodie.

I locate her, dancing dead center on the dance floor, swaying her hips from side to side, dropping lower and rising with the beat of the music.

I observe her in bewilderment; she is laughing with her friends throwing her head back in response, her aura glowing.

The shadows the lights create on the dark dance floor outlining her neck for me to see. I want to reach out and grab her by the throat, pulling her into me causing the moans I relish to escape from her soft, plump lips.

I smile at the pure happiness spilling from her tonight; this is the Brodie I fell in love with.

Free-spirited and damn sexy. Brodie Winters is something special.

Gulping down the last of my beer, I place it back on the bar waving at the bartender before making my way out to Brodie.

I don't usually dance, mostly because I look like a dead fish out of water. I have no idea how to move, put a guitar in my hands I'll be completely comfortable and move with the sound, but take it away, and I become a child without their favorite toy.

My go-to move is just to stand there completely still letting everyone around me do all the work, but the way she is moving her body, I can't resist the urge to reach out and pull her in to grind on me.

Joining her, I grab onto her hips from behind, drawing her into me. She doesn't resist. She sinks into me her arm going up and around the back of my neck, getting as close to each other as we can.

I put the scantiest bit of distance between us, needing the room to breathe before I start tearing our clothes off in a frenzied, lust-fueled attack, and we start fucking in the middle of a crowded bar.

Brodie senses what I am doing and turns to face me, giggling and beaming up at me.

"Someone's eager tonight," she teases, reaching out for the belt loops on my jeans, I groan knowing where this is going if I don't walk away right now.

"Brodie, not here," I groan dipping towards her nipping at her ear lobe, she moans, her body falls into me, my arms welcoming her soft heat.

"Later," I whisper into her ear, a promise of what's to come once we get home, she understands and pulls back enough to kiss my cheek.

"I have to walk away now, but Brodie, I need you to understand something." I say, she looks at me confused, but also intrigued, "Okay, what is it?" she says, crossing her arms causing her breasts to press together barely being contained by her strapless crop.

Fuck.

"I hope you know that what you're doing to me, you're doing the same to every other guy in here. But for them, it's much worse" I drop my voice to a whisper, only audible for her to hear.

She grins at me, "What do you mean?" she questions, but I know she understands what I'm saying.

"It's worse for them because they can't have you, I can." I walk away, not looking back, knowing it'll drive her crazy the lack of my attention.

The less I acknowledge her, the harder she will work to gain my attention later.
