Troubleshooting Canon printer not responding error

Try to run a printer troubleshooter

If you are getting a Canon printer offline status and the printer stops responding then you should check for the runtime error. This type of error usually appears when the printer gets a runtime error. To fix the error, you can directly run a troubleshooter. Go to your connected PC and search for a printer troubleshooter. Run the tool and wait for some time. The printer troubleshooter tool will search for all the corrupted files. If any printer file is not working; the troubleshooter will fix it. After running the tool, retry to take a printout with your Canon printer.

Reconnect the printer

If the Canon printer is not responding; check for its connection. Sometimes, your printer connection gets interrupted unexpectedly. To fix the error, you should re-establish the connection. Go to the printer and eject the power cord. Now check its ends for any damage. If the cable seems faulty then you should replace it. Purchase a high-speed cable for your Canon printer connection. For a wireless connection, restart the Wi-Fi on your printer. The Wi-Fi lamp of the printer must start blinking. The printer will search nearby devices or networks. Select the correct device and connect the printer. After the connection, you can easily take the printouts.

Resume the Canon printer services

Your Canon printer services can also get you into errors. Sometimes, the printer can’t read the new command of the printer and get into errors. Some services get stuck and the printer stops working. To resume those services, restart the printer. A simple restart may not fix the error. Go to the printer and eject the power cord. Now wait for about 10 seconds and reconnect the power cord to your printer. The printer will restart and now all services will start running from the beginning. Now reconnect your printer to the PC and take your printouts.

Check your printer driver

The Canon printer will show errors when it can’t find the required driver. Sometimes, the error appears when the printer can’t find the required driver. Without this driver, your printer won’t read any commands. Go to the connected PC and search for the driver. If you have a Canon printer driver; check for new updates. After updating the driver, it will start working correctly. In case, you don’t have a driver installed on your device then go to the Canon printer website. Check your printer model and search for the related driver on the website. Download and install the correct driver on the computer and now reconnect the printer. Your printer may take a few seconds to recognize the driver. Now you will see the Available status. Open a document and take your printouts easily.

Reset the Canon printer

Few users get this error after making changes to the printer settings. Sometimes, the user makes invalid changes on the printer mistakenly. To fix the error, you have to undo all the invalid changes on the printer. Go to your printer and open the settings. Now revert all the recent changes. If you don’t remember the changes on the printer and you don’t know the inbuilt settings then reset the printer. Open the settings and go to the Reset option. Choose the Factory Reset option and wait. Your Canon printer will reset to the factory settings. Now go to the printer and reconnect and reconfigure it to your PC. After the connection, the Canon printer will start working.

Check the ink level

Canon printers can show errors when the ink is very low. Go to the printer and check the ink level. If the ink is low then replace the cartridges. Use only the original cartridge and the printer may not recognize the third-party cartridges. You can also refill your cartridges and take the printouts. Some users reported that their printer can’t read the refilled cartridges. To troubleshoot this error, go to the printer and eject all the installed cartridges. Now take the refilled cartridge and install it into another slot. Check whether the shot status changes or not. If the status changes, eject it and now install all the cartridges on their respective slots. Now your Canon printer will read the refilled cartridges and you can take the printouts.
