They descended into hell.

“Keep pushing. Protect the containment unit!”

Chatter filled Gunnarsson’s helmet. The power armored marine had seemingly taken control of the protection detail Gunnarsson now found himself attached to. In the panic, he never got their names.

The tunnel extended three miles from the heart of Hadfield station to the pads where the Martians were holding an LZ. In the weeks since the siege began, the normally clear service tunnel had evolved into a labyrinth of makeshift shelters.

From behind a sheet metal wall, he sent potshots toward some Gray’s covering behind a cargo hauler.

It exploded.
