There once lived a family down in the hills of a southern land named the Byrons. They were a peaceful family who had just moved into a new town and were just beginning to set a place up for themselves. Now the place they had chosen looked to be excellent for raising their young family with one little boy and girl with one on the way, but things never seem to go as planned. The residents who had been living in that town were not of the open sort. Most of the time whenever the Byrons would go out, they would often be get strange looks from their new neighbors and it gave them a very uneasy feeling.

Eventually the man of the house, David Byron, decided that he was going to set up a garden and boy was it a big one. Stretching over a hundred feet with a width of fifty feet, it was quite the expanse for a beginner to handle. But the Byrons dove right in and set to getting things all planted and ready for the upcoming fall season. They had bought many different types of plants to grow, including fruit trees such as apples and peaches and even raspberry vines just for fun. Soon the garden was bursting with life and plants were growing everywhere. The lettuce were full and leafy. The tomatoes plump and red with handfuls on each vine. And even the squash which they had never grown before had transformed into a meaty mound of succulent fleshy goodness that would be perfect for any kind of pie.

Now, the residents that lived around them were still a little bit wary of their most recent arrivals and didn't seem to want to have anything to do with the Byrons. However, one day when the Byron kids were coming home from school, the young boy Sam, had been talking to one of their neighbors kids and had found out that his family had not been doing very well with their finances as their father had been in a recent accident and couldn't work. Because of this, their family had not been able to properly take care of their home which was apparent from the weeds growing like mad outside their home and their ten inch grassy lawn. In response to this, Sam reached out to his father and asked if there was some way they could help their neighbors. Sams father smiled back proudly at their son and said, "Of course we can help them".

Later that week, the Bryson family went over to their neighbors, introduced themselves and asked if they could clean up their lawn for them. Their neighbors were both astonished and puzzled at the offer, but said okay. Soon the Bryson family got to work and eventually their neighbors yard looked as clean as a whistle. Before the Brysons left, they left a basket of fresh produce on the front porch with a get well card in the center and wished blessings upon this needy family. For the next few weeks, similar things started happening around town with other families and the Bryson family took the initiative to help them the best they could. By the time fall was about to end, almost all of what the Brysons had produced from their first year of gardening had gone out to their needy neighbors, but they didn't mind. They new that what they did was good and provided comfort for those in need.

Once the first bit of winter started to hit, the Bryson family took a huge hit. David Bryson came down with a nasty case of pneumonia and could not help provide for his family. His wife had to take on a job at home just to be able to put what little food they could afford for their kids to eat. After a few weeks flew by, a knock came to the Brysons door. It was their neighbor that they had helped with that had been in an accident. They had heard about the Brysons dilemma and wanted to help, so they brought along some food and blankets to help relieve a bit of the families hunger and keep them warm. Each day afterwards, other townsfolk came by to help a little more support them and even provided the means to getting David Bryson to a hospital where he could get treated. This story is a great example of how kindness can bring about more kindness and help people come together and in the end, everyone benefits the most.
