Jaune was an eagle. He'd been released from a zoo early on. He watched as his captors were devoured or trapped into surfaces as images of themselves. He got the word out to the birds whose wings weren't clipped. Now he's gone.

Vert was a parrot. She'd known a homier cage. It was damaged by mighty human weapons. The apartment building was more cage. Now she's gone.

There were blue jays. They flew far, they flew fast. The things that came for humans turned them into an image. They were hopeful.

But now they're gone.

This was an emotional piece for me Matthew. I feel like this story really speaks to the cruelty and unfairness that humans push on our animals companions. Some animals aren't meant to be kept (in my opinion). This feels like the result and it breaks my heart.
