Over the last couple of years, Obsidian Eagle has been working on the third book of his Lunacy Trilogy. It's still a work in progress but it's already running longer than either one of its predecessors. Up until now, I've been releasing it chapter by chapter exclusively on Medium. However, since there's no reason to limit my readership I've started re-releasing it here on Vocal too. You'll find a listing of available chapters further down. But first, I'd like to explain a few features showcased by this new fiction series.

Non-Linear Storytelling

Tome of The Sixth Sun continues the theme of future scenarios in which the moon is destroyed. This all began in Book I: The Soma Tantra; a postmodern retelling of an ancient Hindu myth involving a war on the moon between the gods (Devatas) and demons (Ashuras). Temporally speaking, it takes place towards the end of a parallel universe where humans have wiped themselves out.

I'm going to tell you some other things from Book II: A Codex For Gnostics—that could be considered spoilers, but for the record, I don't believe that a cleverly constructed story can be ruined by such trivialities. In fact, Book III: Tome of The Sixth Sun is meant to be read completely out of sequence. In many ways, it can work equally well as Book I of the Lunacy Trilogy, since it serves to clarify various enigmas and loose ends found in its prequels / sequels.

It's also worth pointing out that every chapter is especially geared toward any random reader that might stumble across it online. That's to say, each one essentially reads as if it were the first chapter, or else a self-contained short story. This is Rhizome theory in action.

Anyhow (I digress), though it may be subtler than Book I, there are several scenes in Book II wherein Earth's moon is just a hollowed out husk of its former splendor. You're never told exactly why, but that's precisely where Book III comes in. Earth in 3030 (now called Tellz) is a very different planet from the one we currently inhabit...

America collapsed long ago and a global regime known as Imperium Terrenum has arisen. Although centered around the ancient cradle of civilization, the First Solar Empire extends even unto its lunar colonies. These same colonies find themselves terribly put upon by the demands of Earth's evil empress—Atharvanh Regnyuh.

Continuous excavations into our natural satellite's core have destabilized its orbit. Meanwhile, inside Nautlyz-Korh (the moon's capital city), a rebellion is in full swing. Hence, our story begins with the arrival of Empress Atharvanh's enforcer, General Mythrah.

I'm going to break off there because this is merely a preface, and there's simply too much to go on about. Instead, let's turn to another technicality, shall we?

The LIVE Novel

Tome of The Sixth sun is fairly experimental in the sense that it's being written a chapter at a time and published immediately for the whole world to see. It's an ambitious project that I intend to expand to six sections, each containing a hexad of subscenes. So far, only the first two 'Hex Cycles' are complete and Hex Cycle III is about halfway done. Nonetheless, they amount to more than a dozen chapters even at this early stage.

Because the book is open-ended, it also opens the door wide for audience participation. It would be great as an indie writer to hear constructive critique via social media, and perhaps crowdsource interesting ideas!

I haven't done a lot of looking around in this department, but this has got to be a thing, right? Surely there must be other authors out there giving everyone an inside look into the workings of their creative mind? If so, definitely recommend them to me.

Below are the aforesaid chapters. Bookmark this page because it will be updated fairly frequently.
