The Staying Crew

There is a big island not very far away from the northern side of North Island, New Zealand in the Southern of Pacific. Local peoples called it Re'kome Island, while westerner romanized it as Recome Island.

Recome Island were inhabited by the Polynesian people since the 16th century. The geography of the island were lowland plain near the coast, while on the center it have some mountain range.

When James Cook, a British explorer arrive to the island on the 18th century, the island were finally recognized and get first contact with western civilization.

James Cook and his crew were welcomed by the natives warmly, most of the local citizen were admire of James Cook crew body, skin color and posture which quite different with the natives.

Some of James Cook ship crew stay on the Island, while James Cook and the rest of the crew return to England. The crew later married with the local female and built a family on the island.

Because of their education and knowledge, the staying crew were later outsmarted the local natives and starting to gain control several important position of the island.

The chief of the native peoples of the island and several elders were not dislike the situation, they start planning to get ride of the staying crews and repels them outside the island.

Because of the staying crew armed with modern weapons, they easily defeat and killed many of the local natives include the chief. The rest of the natives were surrendered to the staying crew.

One of the staying crew leader "Edmund Adams" declare himself as the new leader of the island and make himself the Chief of the Island and also Chief of the local peoples.

The others staying crew holds all other function of the island, the security guard, chief farmer, chief shipwright. They ransacked many of the local natives house and loot all of the valuables.

The crews took control almost all economy related items on the island from raw sugar, coconut farm, fisheries, spices, wheat and also include the gold mining.

While the staying crew were live prosper, the local natives live were very poor. Because of the foodstock were controlled by the staying crew, natives were forced to hard labor to get some basic food from the staying crew.

Some resistant happens multiple times, when the local natives forces attacking the staying crew, but the modern weapon make the staying crew unbeatable.

Most of the male peoples were killed in the war or massacre during the reign of the staying crews, while the female also suffers from frequent abuse by the staying crews.

Relatives of the local peoples from the neighbouring island cannot help the local natives fate, one because of the distance separated by sea, or also because the other island also occupied by westerners.

By the 19th century, the staying crews now has reorganzied the chieftain of the island and changed to a self declared Kingdom, when Jules Watford coronized as King of the Island.

When the news of the new kingdom reach England, King George IV order one of his captain John Hannisey to sail to the island and investigate the matters.

Hannisey arrive on the island in fall 1828 on the eastern shore of the island. They were welcomed by resistance from the staying crew guards, but easily defeat them.

Hannisey and his crew forcefully meet with Jules Watford and force him to subjugate to King George IV. Jules abdicated as the King of the Island and Hannisey declared the Island of Recome were now parts of the British Empires... (to be continued)
