The Magical Book

A Nightmare

By Sandeep AddankiPublished about a year ago 3 min read
This is the story that I dreamt, and I took inspiration from certain part of other story that I had read years ago.

There were five friends named San, Uday, Dhania, Hanita, and Hrithik. Once they attended the wedding party of one of their colleagues in Bangalore, and after finishing all the festivities, they booked train tickets to return home. On the day of their departure, they reached the railway station and waited for the train. However, the train was delayed by three hours, and Uday started shouting at San for choosing the train over a bus. Eventually, the train arrived, and they all boarded and settled into their seats.

As the train kept on delaying and it was about reach destination late and time was already crossed 12 O’clock in the night, the five friends got bored and started discussing their salaries and recent increments. Hanita and Hrithik were planning to switch companies, and the topic of luck came up. Dhania and Uday mentioned that those with good luck got better increments. However, San disagreed, stating that it's not just about luck, but also about the hard work they put in. He told them that if they work hard, they too will get what they deserve in the future. Uday retorted that no one can predict the future, and it's all about luck.

The compartment was almost empty except for an old man who had been listening to their conversation from the beginning. He walked towards them and asked if they believed that the future cannot be predicted. Everyone looked at him who is nearly 70 years old with a black blanket on him holding a bag with him, and he revealed that there are astrologers who can predict the future based on time and dates. Uday asked him how he could be sure, and the old man took out a book from his bag, which piqued everyone's curiosity.

Hrithik asked the old man if he was an astrologer, to which he replied that he was just a common man like them, but he could show them something he learned from his ancestors. He explained that he could draw anyone's future or past portrait if they provided him with the exact date and time. Everyone was now mixed up with curiosity and fear. Hrithik wrote a date from past, and the old man drew an exact portrait of Hrithik when he was six years old.

Dhania wrote a date fifty years in the future, and the old man drew a portrait that made everyone laugh, except Dhania, who remained calm and silent. She said she was used to say she looks exactly same as her grandmother in her family and showed them a picture of her grandmother, and the portrait was almost 90% similar. Uday got angry and dismissed the old man's ability, but San decided to test him by entering a date sixty years in the future. The old man closed his eyes and opened in flash and mentioned he couldn't see San's portrait and said that he may not live until then.

Uday laughed at the old man and called him a liar, so he took the book and wrote the date they were traveling and made the time ten minutes ahead of the present time. The old man closed his eyes and opened them immediately. Everyone was scared, and Uday shouted at him, asking if he was saying that he would be dead in ten minutes. The old man stood up and said that his destination had arrived, and he had to go. He started walking towards the door, but the train was still running. All of them were confused and scared. Uday tried to drag the old man, but suddenly all the lights in the compartment turned off, and the old man disappeared. Uday who tried to drag him has slipped and fell out of the train…...!!!!!

The other four friends were shocked and could not believe what had just happened….

Suddenly, Uday woke up from the edge of his bed who is about to fall to the ground, realizing that it was just a DREAM!!!

The day they are going to return has arrived and Uday was so much scared and remained silent throughout the journey as he felt like Déjà vu!!!

But nothing was happened they returned home safely, dreams are kind of fictional stories that our mind experience while we are in deep sleep, on an average humans spend at least two hours dreaming per night and each dream last about 20 to 25 minutes they can be entertaining, romantic, disturbing and even sometimes horrible, it is collection of thoughts, struggles, emotions and people in some way those are relevant to the dreamer.

Please correct me if I am wrongly taken any phrases as I am new to this and I am beginner in content writing.
