The Green Bag

O4

By James GreenPublished about a year ago 3 min read

There was a strange energy in the air that day. It was one of those days where everything seemed to be a little off. It started with the milk. When Rachel went to pour herself a bowl of cereal, she noticed that the milk was a bright shade of green. She couldn't explain it, but she decided to just go with it.

She chugged the milk down and went about her morning routine, trying to shake off the feeling that something wasn't quite right. She brushed her teeth with toothpaste that tasted like banana-flavoured bubblegum and put on a shirt that was two sizes too small.

As she was getting dressed, Rachel noticed that her socks didn't match. They were both a vibrant shade of purple. Again, she decided not to dwell on it and just go about her day. She slipped on a pair of shoes that seemed to be filled with sand and headed out the door.

Rachel was on her way out the door when she remembered that she had left her keys on the kitchen counter. As she made her way back up the stairs, she saw something that made her pause. There was a green bag on the stairs. It wasn't just any green bag, it was the exact shade of green as the milk from earlier.

She couldn't help but feel drawn to the bag. It seemed to be pulsing with energy. She reached out and touched it.

As soon as her fingers made contact, she was transported to a strange landscape. The sky was pink and the grass was yellow. In the distance, she could see giant cauliflowers that seemed to be dancing.

Rachel couldn't believe her eyes. She rubbed them, but the bizarre scene didn't disappear. She decided to go and investigate.

As she walked towards the cauliflowers, she was approached by a group of singing rocks. They asked her if she wanted to join them in a game of hopscotch, but Rachel declined. She was too curious about the cauliflower party.

When she arrived at the party, she was amazed by the sights and sounds. There were talking trees, sentient puddles, and even a band made up of grasshopper musicians. Rachel couldn't believe that such a place could exist.

Rachel was having the time of her life at the party, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she was forgetting something important. Suddenly, it hit her. She had left her keys on the kitchen counter! She couldn't believe she had been so careless.

Rachel knew she had to go back home and retrieve her keys. She didn't want to leave the party, but she had no choice. She said goodbye to her new friends and made her way back to the green bag. As soon as she touched it, she was back on the stairs in her own home.

She grabbed her keys and rushed out the door, determined not to be late for work. As she drove to the office, she couldn't help but wonder if she had just imagined the entire strange adventure.

But then she looked down at her socks and saw that they were still purple, proof that something truly strange had occurred.

Rachel spent the rest of the day trying to wrap her head around what had happened. She couldn't stop thinking about the talking trees and singing rocks. As the day went on, she started to notice more and more strange occurrences. The coffee at the office tasted like pickles, and the conference room seemed to be constantly changing size.

She tried to focus on her work, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she belonged somewhere else. She kept thinking about the green bag and the surreal landscape it had transported her to.

As the day came to a close, Rachel made a decision. She couldn't go back to her normal life. She had to return to the surreal world of the cauliflower party.

She went home and rushed up the stairs, searching for the green bag. When she found it, she touched it without hesitation. In an instant, she was back in the bizarre landscape.

This time, she was determined to stay. She spent the rest of her days at the party, dancing with the cauliflowers and chatting with the talking trees. She never looked back and never missed the strange and mundane world she had left behind.
