The Cat In The Mirror

Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky.

It all began in October 2017, Pete got woken up by a cat’s meowing. Pete does not have a cat. The meowing seems to be coming from the attic. He climbed up the stairs to the attic. The attic’s windows were shut as he checked t hem.

The meowing seems to be coming from the huge Mirror in the attic. Pete stood in front of the huge mirror of his grandmother’s. Pete recalls his Grandmother told a story about this mirror when he was 10 years old.

It was given to her by a suitor of hers. Every night the suitor would visit her through the Mirror. Pete never believed the story was true.

The family never k new what happened to his grandmother five years ago. All they would sa y his grandmother Liz went traveling and never came back. They hired detective to find her, just last year the family gave up the search.

A cat that seem gray brown with stripes appear before him in the Mirror Meowing at him. Pete closed his eyes thinking he was dreaming. The cat’s eye seem to be lighting up. It disappeared like a light just like it appeared in the mirror.

The next morning Pete woke up in his bed. How did he get there? He knew he was in attic in front of the mirror and he saw a strange cat. He thought he was dreaming. Every night ,the same thing would happen over and over again. Every 2am he would be in front of the mirror and the strange cat kept beaconing him to follow her into the mirror.

Pete finally took the courage to go up the attic the fifth day to check the mirror in the attic. He slowly went up to the huge mirror and examined the mirror. There was nothing unusual about the mirror. Pete’s Mom called from downstairs , telling him breakfast was ready.

Pete was home from college for a break. Strange things had been happening to him at his college.

He was very closed to his dorm roommate all of a sudden out of the blue, Ben will be angry at him for every little thing. Ben was such a down to earth roommate. They have always got along and have fun together. Ben started accusing him of stealing his things, to the point of getting the administration of the school involved.

Pete was a smart student but he kept on failing, no matter how hard he studied. He lost his part time job at the diner near his college campus. Pete’s car broke down. He decided to drop out of college until he figured out all these bad luck that's been happening. It seems like he had a purple clouds over his head all the time.

Pete's mom sent him some money to get home. He sold his car to the junkyard for $500.00 .

Cathy was not very happy about her son dropping out but Pete was her only child so, she allowed him to live with her . Cathy lived in her family home. She was a nurse that always worked during night shift at the local hospital in town.

“Son, Come and have breakfast before I go to bed.” Cathy yelled from the stair at her son.

Pete had breakfast with his mom. He asked when his dad, Bob, was coming home?

“Did you tell dad about me dropping out of college?” Pete asked his mother.

“No, not yet. I did not want to upset him while he was working on an important project. I will wait until he gets home in the next two weeks.” Cathy told her son.

Pete’s Dad, Bob, was an engineer . He was working on a project in Texas, SpaceX. It's a top secret project . Bob comes home every two weeks to spend it with his family.

Pete wanted to be an engineer like his Dad. Looks like that dream will not happen.

“ What are you doing in the attic, anyway?” she asked him.

“ I heard some strange noises in the attic . Cat meowing.” Pete told his mom.

He did not tell her about a cat in the mirror. He did not want to spook his mom out.

“ We don’t have a cat . Why would you hear a cat up there? The Windows were locked shut up there.” Cathy told her son while eating her breakfast. Pete did not respond, hoping his mom , would drop the conversation.

Pete thanked his mom for the breakfast. Cathy went up to her room to sleep. She was very tired from her late night work shift. It was always Pete responsibility to wash the dishes after every meal. Pete was glad his mom was too tired. She would keep asking him over and over what happened at college , even though he told her a dozen times what happened.

Pete was washing the dishes thinking it's just a dream. Why was he dreaming of a cat in the mirror and Why did he keep hearing meowing at 2am in the morning?

Pete set his alarm five minutes to 2am before bed to try to get to the bottom of this Cat Mystery. The Alarm went off and Pete went up to the attic and exactly at 2am the cat appeared in the mirror. The cat stared at him. “ I have been waiting for you.” the cat told him.

Pete started to think,{“ did the cat in the mirror just talk to him?”}. He shook his head to try to clear his mind.

The Mirror sucked Pete in it.
