Ella felt the pain in every filament as her hair was yanked back. She tried to keep her expression dispassionate but the pain burned. Control, Ella. Control. She willed her mind to follow the mantra.

He had hurt her before. She knew that He enjoyed it, but she knew that He liked His victims to express their pain. He got no fun out of "dead meat", those not willing to play. He loved the runners, the squealers, the pleaders. She would not give Him the satisfaction.

She had faced Him before and she would face Him now. But this time, she wasn't alone.

The Master struggled to his feet. He had made a decision. He could no longer live a life like this, of violence and subservience. He thought of his mother and tears filled his eyes. He would not leave her but he worried for the demands that he would have to make of her, leaving, and how she would bear up.

And Marshall? He looked down at the foot soldier who was groaning softly on the floor. He needed to get him help. No, more than that - he couldn't leave him to Him.

He would not be that person anymore.

Bending, he lifted Marshall up, cradling his battered head as he did. Once stood, the Master supported Marshall, like a wounded comrade and made a call.

"Mother? I need you to listen. Pack a bag and do it quickly."

Jason could feel Ella's pain and he wanted it to stop. This man was a fucking brute. His fist was tightly wound in Ella's hair, His teeth clenched. Her head was right back, her throat exposed. Jason squirmed at her vulnerability.

Jason's thoughts went to sacrifices, blood-letting, death.

"No!"

Still not sure where or what he was anymore, Jason reached for His arm and grabbed it. No response. No recognition of touch.

Fuck! How could he stop Him?

Jason growled in frustration and reached for where His hand was gripping Ella's hair.

And it was this that changed the game. As Jason's hand touched her hair, Ella's eyes shot open with a gasp.

Jason felt the surge, followed by a snap.

Then silence, then screaming.

It's payback time now that it has become a two-against-one situation. Is it tomorrow yet?

God I hope it’s not Ella screaming. Yikes. Love how it’s all kicking off now Rachel. Have a smashing day.

It's me. I'm screaming. Till tomorrow!

  • Well-wrought! The Master pulled himself back from the edge after all, eh? I'm proud of the fella, though even if he survives, there's still a lot of heartache ahead, coming to terms with what he allowed himself to become; then there is the sure realization that "He" isn't alone, in a manner too diffuse to describe... Him. He. You dare not name it otherwise! It is Legion. As Father Merrin remarks to Father Karras in the Exorcist, as per the subject of Regan's personalities: "There is only one."

I hope it’s He screaming in doubled pain from Jason’s and Ella’s joined forces. Well-tensed and a nice cliffhanger, Rachel!

  • Cheers for the Master. He should team up with Jason and Ella!

  • Ella's eyes shot open with a gasp. Jason felt the surge, followed by a snap. That part, whoaaaaa. I saw it so vividly in my head! Who's screaming???? Soooo suspenseful!

  • Yay👍🏼 well done Master! Loved: ‘He would not be that person anymore.’✅ Hoping the screams are coming from Him, after Jason connects with Ella.🤔
