I turned on the air conditioning and took a deep breath. I drove for another hour and my gas light came on. I pulled into the nearest gas station. I filled up and went inside. “I need directions,” I said to the attendant. “To where?” He asked. “Nowhere in particular,” I said. “That place is easy to find! Just take a left at the light,” he said, smiling.
