Eclipse in Ember
In the quiet, secluded town of Ember, nestled between the forests and the sea, the status quo was sacred. It was a place where generational families knew each other's stories, their joy and grief interwoven like a well-used tapestry. Ember had its rhythm, and until today, that rhythm was seldom interrupted.

The Seventeenth Summer (Ch 11)
Chapter Eleven The boys were lucky. When they finally made it to the small movie theatre, the doors were just being opened for the late afternoon show with the first movie being a cowboy movie that had played here before. They bought their tickets for the double feature, then a drink, a packet of Jaffa lollies and a choc-top ice cream each. They then decided to wait out most of the first movie in the foyer, at least until it was almost over; then they would go in, find a seat, and while everyone else was outside during intermission, they would settle in.

So, I quickly threw on some clothes, put up my hair, and headed toward the bathroom.

This is a Robbery
”Still open?” ”Yes, of course.” I said to the lesbian couple who had just walked into my jewelry store. I love gay couples. They are the ultimate customers for a jeweler. Especially two women because usually they are both getting jewelry where with traditional couples its usually the man just buying something for the woman.

Fair Hand
Jacob wheeled up to the rusty bench where Grandpa sat. A narrow beam of sunlight painted radiant warmth on his face, cold metal of his push rims contrasting with the sun’s heat. In the oak branches above, grey squirrels leaped between branches holding acorns. Amazing feats of agility. Tucked away in the safety of a high bough, a disgusted red squirrel tittered.
